If you think these Givi panniers look great check out the globescout panniers that are sold on advdepot.com. There is a ton of info on advrider about the quality. Here is the kicker, they are right around $1000 including mounts, locks, and brackets. They even come in black, LBS. They are...
35-40 mpg was more than acceptable when I had 160 hp (and 6 gallon tank). 36 mpg with 50 hp.......not so much. But I was loaded down with a 52 liter Givi and saddlebags along with an REI stuff sack that had to be removed for all 9 fuel stops. I was planning on more like 4 or 5 fuel stops. Oh...
Best mpg yesterday was 45 mpg, worst was 36! In my bike's defense there was a nasty wind out of the northwest alllll day long. Stopping for fuel every 120-140 miles makes for a long day. I told myself yesterday that my nc would be replaced ASAP. I will wait to see how it does on my next trip...
Getting horrible (45 mpg) fuel mileage right now. Guess my NC hates 75 mph and 40 degree weather. I am totally kicking myself for trading my C14 for this bike.
Unfortunately I have two different LED lights. Another small light should be waiting for me when I get back home. Although I did think about using them as is just see how they work. I might throw them on tonight before my early bedtime since I will be taking off around 2 am.
Taking off tomorrow and making the 1100 mile ride back to ND for work. Heated gear.... check. Taller Puig windshield..... check. Merino wool socks and long johns......check. Made the trip a couple months ago on my Concours 14 in 15 hours and used about 26 gallons of fuel. Hope to cut fuel...
I just got my second LED fog/driving light since they are only sold individually instead of by the pair. The first was sold by an outfit called MIC tuning on Amazon and I was less than impressed with the quality of the brackets and also the total size which was around 2.6 inches instead of the...
I posted pics in the homemade saddle bag bracket thread. The bags are Motocentric Touring model. They are around $160 on ebay. They include rain covers, neoprene pads for the contact areas and have an expandable top that will carry 26 liters per side. Best soft bags I have personally seen.
I copied another member's idea and used 3/4 cpvc. Looks good and is rock solid since I made everything snug up to existing corners. Goes on or off in less than 10 seconds. Less than $15 in materials.
I rode on PR2's with my C14 down into the single digits and never had any issues. I just waited for the salt and slush to clear a bit before I rode. Those are my favorite street tires due to the great combination of grip and tread life.
That is why I chose my NC700 over the F800. Almost the same capabilities (with some modifications and farkles) for half the price. I would venture to say that the NC700X is probably the best deal around for an [almost]-do-it-all-bike that sips fuel.
I am hoping to make the trip to work in North Dakota later this month on my nc. 1100 miles from where I live will be a gamble but with planes tickets almost doubling in price from Missouri to ND I will either ride or drive up there this time. Fingers crossed that the forecast looks good so I...
I came from a 160 hp sport touring bike, so for me the nc700x is definitely lacking in the power department. Do I think that I will ever try to get any more power out my nc? Not a chance! A slip on exhaust will be it. Why? Because this bike is smooth as silk and gets awesome fuel mileage...
My jeep sat in the driveway all last year except for hunting season. I rode every day, rain or shine. We only had 2 inches of snow and the roads were clear by the next time I had to leave the house. Lowest temp i rode in was 9 degrees, my Concours 14 had pretty good wind protection with a...
Same concept to the Race Tech gold valve emulator? Any changes to spring rates or just fresh fluid? Suspension work is next on my list after I get the luggage sorted out on my bike.
