Bag supports
I decided to go with a concept similar to the Honda hardbag supports. The entire project is about $25, (if you have a friend that weld ;-)
Materials:
5/16" x 48" hot rolled rod (You can use a larger rod or drill rod which is much stiffer)
3" x 3" plate / gusset...
I had the chain replaced at just under 10K. I stayed with the original sprockets hoping the set will run at least another 5+K. I was very disappointed. I've had a number of chain drive bikes and all have gone well over 20K. Hope that this wasn't a poor attempt by Honda to save money.
First of all check your owners manual for the proper chain movement.
To check for a bad chain I will suggest a couple things. (I'm sure you'll get a lot of input on this).
Prop your bike up so the rear wheel spins freely. Measure the chain slack from ground/floor to the bottom of the chain...
There may well be a thread related to chain wear, but I was unable to find it.
It looks like I need a new chain at 10,000 miles. It seem premature to me. I have had a number of bikes of various sizes and don't ever remember needed a chain this early.
Anyone in the same boat?
I'm...
Made a pair a few years back for the bags on my ST1300. Made one this spring for the NC.
Duplicate key cut by my local lock & key dealer for $3.00 Plug for 1/2" sq. tubing from hardware store.

From the first time I sat on the bike at the Cycle World Intl. Show I loved the bike and hated the seat. I tried to make the best of it, but after about 2K it had to go. I ordered the Corbin because I had one on my ZRX and loved it. I also had a Sargent on my VFR. Both excellent saddles, but...
The spoiler is a Wunderlich mounted over a stock Honda tall windscreen. Wind Deflector All Items For This Bike | BMW Wunderlich America
This is by no means the only one out there, but it's the one I chose because it was so adjustable, and others are just to wide to fit with the Honda...
Look no further :-)
The NC is a great bike. I'm over 60 and have owned quite a few bikes. I traded in a VFR for the NC. I have no regrets!
I commute daily, take 200 mile Saturday rides and 2000+ mile vacations. The bike is great at any posted speed.
I must say that I like a rock hard...
For those of you just looking to run your GPS off the aux. power supply I'll add my 2 cents worth. I have a cheap-o cig. outlet mounted under the very rear of the air vent cowling on the left side. I have the Garmin plugged in directly to the adapter and it is wired via an inline fuse directly...
Here's the list I use. (Just drop the food and camping gear)
Motorcycle Trip Checklist
Looks like a great trip!!!
Also, I must say the "special" key I made for the frunk comes in really handy. There at least a dozen reasons you'll find for not having to pull the ignition key out. You...
