2014 Personal Maintenance History (So Far)

Hello all, Been wanting to post this since the bike turned 100K and finally got around to it. I'm not the most diligent mechanic but if anyone is interested what a normal dude has done to maintain a commuter bike using the most basic of tools and mechanical knowledge while on a budget, well...

    Something Loose In Fork

Good to know. I saw a video where a gentlemen stuck a long tool to unbolt the bottom portion. I did notice the bottom bolt but figured I needed to unbolt both to disassemble. Good to know.

Thanks. Might need to do a completed dissassemble next time. Just didn't have the appropriate tool to extract the inside.

    Something Loose In Fork

Today I was replacing the seal on the non-brake side of the fork and also the oil on both and when I went back to put everything together I shaked the fork and noticed a sound on one of the forks as if something loose in there. I only noticed it on one of them for I had already filled the other...

First impressions: new Madstad 20" windshield

After much experimentation I settled on an angle but I'm not completely convinced it's the absolute optimal. What is everyone's preferred angle? Also I've found that most of my buffeting came from the sides and under the the windshield. If I could do it over again I would order a wider and...

    Rev'it Tornado 2 motorcycle pants?

I have about 100,000 miles on the Tornado 1 pants and I like them very much. Good in all kinds of temperatures and weather conditions , I would highly recommend them. I bought a second pair when I wrecked my Street Triple and a barbed wired fence sawed most of my gear.

Welcome to the forum. I'm in Monterey county myself. Instead of having panniers I chose to ride with only a top box for relaxed filtering.

Honda bringing the NC750X to the USA.

And I will! But it will be the CB1000R+, the first bike I ever test rode after having a Rebel 250 for 6 months. It was exhilarating but the looks of the bike never could convince me...but now! That thing is calling me. So you guys say Honda monitors forums?...it would be nice if the NC had...

    coming up on 100K...

Wow I wish I could say the same thing about my Silverado. I had to replace the engine and major suspension parts at 100k. My '14 NC has 50k miles and I feel confident putting another 50k.
