I've had both. For my height (5' 9.5") the S was a better fit. The X seems tall for me and harder to maneuver backing out of the garage and such. That said, I think the S would feel too low for you at 6'2". The X would be a better fit.
Now to get Honda to sell the S in the US...
I've been using an Icon Airmada for the last year or so. I have my Sena all wired in and a replacement shield. For the last couple of months, though, the forehead pad has been really digging into me. I looked like Peyton Manning during a time out. All I want to do after an hour riding is get...
I picked up my new 2016 X yesterday and rode it home. A few observations and comparisons.
1) It's tall. Wow. At stop lights I was looking over a lot of the cars. I'm average at 5'9.5" and it's ALMOST too tall. The S was much lower.
2) It rides and handles wonderfully. I don't know...
There was a 2015 in the showroom and it had the same LCD display that my 2012 S had. I'm assuming that both models used the same pod through 2015, so it will be new for me, too.
My 2012's pod filled up with water, so I'm intimately familiar with that display, having taken it apart, dried it...
I was overseas in Japan with a 2012 NC700S. I couldn't bring my S back with me to the States, so yesterday I went and did the initial paperwork on a 2016 X. I should have it in the next day or so.
While the X isn't my preferred style of bike, I loved riding my S and would rather stick...
I sold my NC700S DCT. I really wanted to take it back to the States with me, but it would have cost more than the bike was worth. It was my first bike and I'll always think fondly of it.
Yes, I could ship it there no problem. Import fees/taxes, changing everything to meet DOT standards, and trying to get it titled would cost way more than it's worth. I love it, but not enough to invest double what it's worth. If they sold the S in the States it would be a lot easier, but...
Took a ride through the Japanese mountains. It was a fantastic ride.
Unfortunately, this may be my last ride on the NC. It's going up for sale this week since I can't get it back to the States when I leave next month. I'm really going to miss it.
Thanks for all the tips, everyone. I'll check all the links posted so far.
I do know there is no VIN. Japan uses a chassis number that is not the same format as the VINs used in the U.S. I do have a Japanese title...but it's in Japanese and probably won't help me a heck of a lot.
From a...
Is it even worth looking into? I'm going to be retiring and heading back to the States in a few months. I really don't want to give up my 700S...I love it. Getting it to the States is not an issue as the gov't will ship it with my household goods.
Does anyone know what the process would be...
I'm QUITE disappointed the S didn't make it into the U.S. lineup this year. I'm going to be headed back to the States for good sometime in 2016 and I can't bring my S with me. I was really hoping to replace it with a new one there. Now I'm wondering if I should wait for 2017 or suck it up and...
