I also had used a set from national cycle that were clear and attached to the side mirror mounts on my '99 Vulcan. They fit the NC700x. I don't remember them being expensive.
I put barkbusters on mine. So far so good. They are not connected to the end of the handlebars and are for wind protection. The universal mounts worked well, just had to drill new holes so they didn't hit the windscreen when turning.
So far they seem to work for me in the colder weather (just got the bike in december). I don't feel cold air at the seat . Will have to see if its an issue when the weather heats up.
I intsalled the storm handguards (S7) with the universal mount. Easy to install, attaches to handlebars. Just had to drill extra hole so guards wouldn't touch OEM tall windscreen. So far they have worked really well at keeping the wind off my hands.
Try Foremost insurance. For me they were about $70.00 cheaper than progressive. I paid about $370.00 for the year. Full coverage except medical payments.
Rode today! 40 degrees and mostly sunny. Heated grips and tall windscreen helped alot. Installed barkbuster storm handguards and they worked well. Had to drill an extra hole in the mount so the guards didnt hit the windscreen. Will post some better pictures soon.
