A couple of the folks from this forum are already on the road to the Overland Expo. Got a text message from gaknc700x who stated they have ran into a frontal passage that has high winds. They are on I40 and I44. I will try keep everyone posted.

I will be leaving tomorrow morning heading for Palo Duro Canyon for our meet up. We should meet up either late Monday evening or Tuesday.

Got another message that Charley Boorman will be coming to the Overland Expo. Should be a great ride!

Looks like our little forum will be represented by a good group!

Just talked to gaknc700x, he said he made it all the way to Springfield and the winds were very bad. Gaknc700x told me we have another forum member coming in from Louisiana, but in his pickup. The more the better!

Day one on the road was rain and wind all the way. Spent the night in Plainview, Tx. Should get to Palo Duro Canyon between 10 and 11 this morning for meetup.

Yea, storm came thru Indiana on Sunday. The weather service has estimated straight line winds of 90-120 mph came thru the Evansville Indiana area on Sunday.

Gaknc700x came from the east and I came from the south, and we met up at Palo Duro at about noon time. We put up our tents, ate, and the went for a little canyon carving.

Dan Kayak and Mark Motorcycle got to Palo Duro about 6:00 PM.

Overland Expo Day 3

Other than the camp ground turkey trying to mate with my tent all night, the evening in Palo Duro Canyon was great. As a matter of fact, it was so good for Dan Kayak that he could no way muster up for the morning. So, off to the high plains we went without Dan Kayak. He stated he would meet up with us at the Overland Expo.

So, off to the high plains we three drifters did go.

Overland Expo Day 4

The three high plains drifters continued east into Arizona heading toward Mormon Lake, Arizona. We got to the Overland Expo a little after noon, put up our tents, and got our bikes ready for the rodeo that would start tomorrow.

Overland Expo Day 5

First official day of the Overland Expo. I started my morning learning to do it in the dirt at the Raw Hyde Rodeo Class. In the afternoon I attended the Mexico travel class, the tech class, and the new products class. Had a great time at the Raw Hyde class. Even old dogs can learn new tricks.

Overland Expo Day 6

Spent the morning riding the Raw Hyde Adventure ride. Two NC7s on this ride. No one went down, but I believe all the riders had a good time.

Motorcycle Mark road the Raw Hyde Canyon ride, all the way to the Grand Canyon rim. Mark said about half the riders turned back after 2 miles. Mark also said you know it was a real adventure ride because everyone went down at least once, even the Raw Hyde instructors. Falling over and dropping your bike is just a part of adventure riding. Once you accept the fact that you will drop your bike, then the fun begins.
