Where stands your "fear line"?

I think that's actually residual release agent from the mold, but either way, you're wise to let that wear off before pushing the tires at all.

Correct. Here's the deal. As long as you are not going slow and using much lean angle at the same time, you'll never have to worry about losing a tire. I can put brand new Q3's on, go to the track, and be dragging knee on the first lap. When you are going faster and lean over on new tires, it gradually wears the mold release agent off. The tires are making more revolutions while leaning as opposed to going slower while leaning. Where people mess up is pulling out of a parking lot onto the highway, leaning to turn and gassing it. Then the rear just slips right out from under you. So....rule of thumb, if you are at highway speed, you have little to worry about. If you are going slower, don't lean and rip the throttle.

Had a buddy that did that on his then nearly brand new Kawi ZX14 years ago. Picked bike up from getting new tires on it, literally pulled out onto the road and lost the rear, scratched one side all to hell and only crashed at probably 15 mph.
