Tried to get the wife interested in going out on the Can Am but she was hesitant. She said something about riding in the forecasted 1 inch of rain not being her thing. Oh well, happy wife, happy life.
Sunday's forecast is much better.

Sold my CB125R. Maybe a new exhaust for the NC750S now! Any UK users on here with experience of Stealth Exhausts? I like the look of the ceramic black 250mm Diablo or Stealth:

I'd like something a bit smaller than OEM. Is it maybe a 350mm exhaust from factory? I am also not looking for obnoxious noise, and from the videos I've seen the Stealth seems to have that too.

Sunday we went out on the Can Am to get lunch at a historic 1880s Hotel/Tavern in Mc Keansburg, PA. It was a cool and breezy day but no rain and we had a very bright blue sky. We took backroads for the whole trip. Surprisingly light traffic the whole day. What a great day to be out riding. Total miles for the day was 136 miles.

Yesterday we rode the Can Am to lunch but made the mistake of parking under a tree. The birds had target practice on the hood. Nothing on the seats and control panel.

Today we washed the bike.

What can a small bird do that most farmers have trouble with? Put a deposit down on a new tractor.

Day 128 ... Naked CB 1100 hadn't been ridden in a couple weeks, so it got to stretch its legs today. Gosh what a great bike. 64 miles @ 78 degrees and mostly sunny

Day 130.... weird weather again today. Mrs Ferret and I decided to go for a ride. I pushed my CB and her X Max out, went back into the house to gear up, we came out and it was raining. Pushed the bikes back in. An hour later the sun is shining, the driveway is dry again, I push the bikes back out, we gear up, take off and 15 miles later we're riding in the rain. 10 miles after that it dries up, and we finish the ride under cloudy then sunny skies. 39 miles @ 75 degrees.

Day 132... beautiful day so rolled out the CB again. 51 miles @ 75 degrees and sunny and turned over another mileage milestone on the CB

I spent today and yesterday riding my CRF250L dual sport on roads around the upper Mississippi River. I rode around 300 miles. The 250 is a poor highway bike but excels on slower primitive backroads. I did find some good paved curvy two lane roads, but when the signs says “pavement ends” I get a little excited, then when the next sign says “gravel ends” and the road turns to dirt, well then it’s going to get interesting.

Day 133....Had the NC loaded up for a rally I'm leaving for in the morning, so rode the CB again today. 66 miles @ 76 degrees and sunny

I've had a nice long weekend (closer to a week) ride...from Tennessee up to the driftless area of Wisconsin and back. The riding in that part of WI is fun, but less challenging than the roads in my home area (Appalachian mountain area). I'm sure there are areas with more population, but the area I was mostly in (around Spring Green) is surprisingly devoid of much traffic. If a person really wanted to be enthusiastic, they could, but I was in a very mellow mood. For this trip, my "antique" '97 Honda ST1100 got the nod (in Tennessee, you can get an antique tag for a vehicle over 25 years old...there are a few restrictions in how they can be used). The "modern" NC will get some good weeks of exercise later this year.

Awesome! I had a ‘97 ST1100 that I had bought new (purchased in Wisconsin). Sold it in 2005 as the Goldwing had taken over touring duty.

We have "bluffs", no mountains here :). I would say you were in a very mild area of the driftless. More hilly and curvy a bit west and north of spring green would feel closer to home. If you come back again, let me know ahead of time and I can put a ride together!

I was in that area for a "regional" rally put on by the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association. The MSTA is non-brand specific with no displacement requirements (personally, I've gone to rallies on everything from a GL1200 to a CB300F and lots of in-between including my NC750X) and is full of enthusiastic folks who like to ride. We don't do parade rides (a "big" group for us is 4-6 bikes), and we had about 50-60 bikes at Spring Green from all over. Street routes are provided (and sometimes adventure routes) for riders who may not be familiar with the area, but you can ride as much or as little anywhere you want. We have weekend rallies spread throughout the year in locations ranging from Colorado to Wisconsin to Arkansas to Georgia. If there are curves, we go there.
We had our national rally up in LaCrosse a few years ago, and I've attached a BaseCamp screenshot of some of the routes we used then and in Spring Green. LaCrosse is located in the extreme upper left hand corner of the screenshot with Madison in the far lower righthand corner for reference.

I'd be happy to have suggestions from a local person...more options are always better. I may very well be headed back up that way next summer. :)

The MSTA have run several rallies in SE Ohio based out of Marietta and I think they have one coming up there in the next couple of weeks.

We're headed up to West Virginia next weekend
In mid-July we're in the mountains in Little Switzerland, NC.
In early August we're heading for Corydon (Indiana...and it's way more entertaining than you might initially think), Milford (PA) the second weekend, and Marietta (Ohio) the 4th weekend of August.
In September it's off to Missouri, Colorado, and West Virginia.
Our national rally will be in Pennsylvania in October followed by events in Georgia, and Texas (Kerrville-Hill Country).
Our season will wrap up with a stop in Arkansas in early November.

Our "regional" events often repeat year after year in the same area around the same time, but the national rally moves around to different places and sometimes different parts of the year. The national event hasn't been to Pennsylvania before, so I'm looking forward to heading up that way.
I'm retired and I still don't have the time to go to all of our events. We have a bunch of good folks willing to organize events.

If you think you might enjoy visiting one or more of those locations, many of our rallies do not require membership in the MSTA for attendance. But there are benefits to being a member which you can read about here... https://ridemsta.com/
