Shinko...

The Advance and the Raven look interesting, but not a lot of reviews posted.

I had Raven on my CBR600 when I bought it. The rear was showing cord within about 100 miles, so I bought another and left the front alone. They were decent tires. The rear flat-spotted pretty quickly in my commuting service, but they were decently grippy and certainly low priced.

"Alot of tires.now which do i get?"

You nailed it. We all use our NC700 in a different manner. Only you can decide the tire that works for the type of driving you will be doing. We all need something different.

3.jpgI found this very good article - Webbike World talks about tires:

Many riders mistakenly figure that "wider is better" when it comes to motorcycle tires. It's not.

In general, you want to stick to the exact tire sizes recommended by the factory. It's usually not a good idea to try and out-guess the engineers when it comes to motorcycle tires. Larger tires may fit but are usually not equivalent, and they will usually affect handling -- a problem to avoid on a motorcycle.

Unfortunately, many/most motorcycle tire manufacturers don't publish exact dimensions of their tires (e.g., width, sidewall profile and overall diameter) after proper inflation. This makes it very difficult to compare tire size changes.

The biggest problem is that a wider and taller (or shorter, like the 80-series aspect ratio) will change handling, turn-in and probably speedometer and odometer readings..

While I'm in critic mode, how about the forums where the very first thing dual-sport riders are concerned about is the mileage they are getting out of a tire?

Pick one: you can have grip in the dirt; grip on the street; grip in the wet or mileage. You're not going to get grip on the street, in the dirt, in the wet AND high mileage. It's a dual-sport tire -- forget 10k life spans and buy the tire that works for the majority of your riding (most likely, the street).

What a beaut of a thread. A few tires I didn't see:

Pirelli Angel ST, both front and rear sizes available
Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S20, both sizes available

Given the choice between the two Angels, I'd take the GT over the ST. I really like the ST rear that's on my bike now, but every review on the GT I've read says it outlasts the ST.

Does anyone have the rim widths in inches so a wider array of tires can be posted? I find that real off road tires are listed in inches and they are much more affordable like $100 per set compared to $400 for dual sport tires. I don't mind tearing up a pair of dirt tires that cheap on the road and can swap for street tires when not playing in the dirt. Been looking at Motorsport.com and they have a lot of tire combos listed for the nc700x but most widths for the more aggressive dirt tires and measured in inches.

I found this on the internet a while back. Saved it just in case.

Diameter = rim size + (width * aspect ratio * 2)

Example: 120/70-17
17" = 432mm
432mm + (120mm * .70 * 2) = 600mm = 23.622 inches

600 mm = 60cm
1 in = 2.54 cm
60 / 2.54 = in.
600 mm = 23.62 in

So for your question.

120 mm = 12cm
1 in = 2.54 cm
12 / 2.54 = in.
120mm = 4.72 in
