After finding out that I have a non OEM shock already installed on my bike, the question is what shock is it? Will after some drunk research on the interweb the closest shock that resembles the one installed on my NC is from a 2011-2017 Suzuki GRXR 600-750 OEM shock. WTF? The bikes rear end does feel good though...lol

Wish we had more info on this conversion. I'd imagine one of those shocks could be picked up much cheaper than aftermarket shocks for the NC, and probably be a solid improvement.

I'll be taking the shock off and putting it side by side with Aprilla shock that I just purchased. Unfortunately I do not have an OEM shock to compare it to.

Hey Riceman, what did you have to give for that Aprilla may i ask. I too am considering an aftermarket shock for mine. I know we are not the same height/weight but i was just curious...
Thanks, :{)

Purchase mine used on EBay, $80 total. Once I'm back home from work, I'm going to mount it and see if there's a significant difference from the GSXR shock.

I have a 2015 oem shock sitting on my garage floor and a piece of flextape next to it.. Installed this p.jpg last week with the .90kg fork springs race tech recommended.

You can check to see if the spring is good for you by adjusting the shock's preload to set rider sag for your weight then measuring static sag with you off the bike. Static sag should be 5 - 10 mm.

Update:
Removed the GSXR shock and did a side by side with the Aprilla shock. Looks like the previous owner modified the top mount to make the GSXR fit. Aprilla shock feels and looks beefier than the GSXR shock.

Outcome:
I mounted the Aprilla shock and rode the same roads riding over the same bumps and imperfections. Overall I prefer the Aprilla shock over the GSXR, reason being is that the GSXR shock bottom out easley probably due to the spring rate although the spring is longer compared to the Aprilla spring.

Nice pics. What all is required to remove the shock? Can you just disassemble the lower links and the lower mount and slide it out the bottom without removing the swingarm?

I removed the tire to have more room and easier to move the swing arm. But yes just the lower link and shock mount.

I didn't remove the wheel when I did mine. IIRC I had to pull off one of the side covers to get better access to the top bolt (especially as I needed some spacers due to width difference).

Ahh, understood.
