Does anyone know if a lock smith can cut one of these new style keys? I normally carry a spare "flat key" in my wallet, just in case plus I want to make a knob for the frunk.

If so, does anyone know the ilco key blank number?

I guess you are talking about a 2021 NC750X key in the USA, but you may want to be clear what you are asking. Early model NC has a simple double cut key that was easily duplicated by a locksmith. Later version NCs use a “laser” cut key, and markets outside the US use a chip encoded HISS key. For the sake of sanity in this thread, post a photo of your key or describe it clearly.

sorry, yes I'm in the USA and just picked up a 2021 NC 750X DCT and the key is flat with a wavy cut to it. Not like the old keys with "teeth" I'll post up a pic tomorrow.

There are several online lock and key specialists who can duplicate the Honda wave or laser cut key. I used a guy called Taylor lock and key. All he needs is the model and year of the bike and the Honda key code.

will it be a flat key? Or one with the big Honda head on it?

Mine came with a genuine Honda key. Honda part # 35121-MJE-A02
Definitely not a flat key.

Cost was $37.50 for the key including the special code cutting.

The company is Taylor Lock & Key out of Hendersonville NC.
The website is www.keys4urride.com

I also found a company in the UK that can duplicate GIVI luggage wave or laser cut keys also.
Let me know if you need their website as well.

ok I just got back from our local locksmith and he said if I got a blank he could cut it but the doesn't have the security key blanks fro Honda Motorcycles. He has them for Honda cars, but the extra groove down the middle of the key makes them different.

So I went to my dealer and he is checking to see if he can get me a couple cut keys and how much.

Thanks for the info bigbird!

Hi could you let me know the website in the UK. Have asked a couple of local key cutters who cannot do it. My bike is a 2021 and I just want a spare non coded key to carry for the storage box. Thanks. Bob

Sure.

Their mailing address is PO Box 4421, Dunstable, LU6 9HP

As a follow up my local dealer got me the key blank direct from Honda part number 35121-MJE-A02

It is a big headed key just like the original

I had a local key cutter Mr Lock cut it for m and it works perfectly only I can't carry it in my wallet

I ended up making a Frunk Knob key out of it..

Did you every get the spare key? I also want to make a knob for the frunk, so I am going down the same rabbit hole. Haha, thanks

I ended up getting a key blank from my local dealer and having it cut at a Mr Lock. It was an expensive proposition.

Id still like a flat key for my wallet.

I bought a cheap key from China ($5) but then it cost me $30 bucks to have it cut!!
Note, in Canada at least, this will start and run the bike. Not something to leave sitting in the Frunk key slot.

Depending on the knob used and the length of the key after cutting and gluing the key to the knob, the key is too short to fully insert in the lock barrel. I have made three frunk knobs and none would start the bike. My NC is pre 2021 though and maybe the ignition key length is different.
