Your vision test works well when NOT wearing a full face helmet. I know, full face is a choice, but it's one a lot of riders make and it does impact downward visibility.

I wear a modular Shoei Neotec 90% of the time. 10% HJC 3/4.

I just tried that vision test wearing the Neotec with the chin bar down and I can see the the bottom edge of the laptop and all of the keyboard. Some FF helmets have a smaller eye port I guess, maybe that is why you can't easily glance down.
