Part found while doing oil change—where does it go?

Anyone know what this goes to?

I took off the cover to access the oil filter and during the oil change found this piece under the center stand on the left side (when seated on the bike).

Could be part of the under cowl/cover that you probably removed for the oil change.

I didn’t see that piece on the other side—that was my first thought too.

Call up a parts diagram for the under cowl and see if anything like that shows up.

Looks a bit like the insert that goes inside the rubber grommet on the windscreen mount. Have you changed the windscreen and possibly dropped it from the factory windscreen?

When I was a mechanic sometimes I would find parts that has been there from former repairs, etc.

I don’t think so. Switched to the Puig windscreen months ago (and then moved to a new house).

@750dct –> I bought the bike new and have done all repairs/farkling myself. Weird, right?
