First time poster, long time lurker. I love my Red 2013 and it's been a reliable 80 mi daily commuter for me... till I hit an 8 point buck. Deer died on impact, my collarbone is healing OK after surgery and the bike came out surprisingly well. Still can't use my left arm to take it apart but from a visual inspection it looks like I'll be needing:

Left footpeg *found*
Left turnsignal *found*
Front fender *found*
OEM handlebar *found*
Left grip
Left bar end weight
Kickstand
Front beak
Plastics on the left side

Anybody have an NC700X that they've modified and want to get rid of the stock footpegs and turnsignals? Or anybody parting one out and need to get rid of the plastics?

Thanks!

Don't have any parts for you, but glad you weren't hurt badly, and that the bike is fixable.

Dang forest rats. Big worry whenever I ride. Lot's of them around here. (although 150,000 less now that gun season just ended lol)

As someone who lives in an area with more Whitetail Deer than humans I can sympathize with your plight. I've had them cross in front of me too often but only once where I thought I was going to actually hit one of them ... pretty sure I could have reached out and grabbed his tail!

Sorry no parts for you, but glad you are in good shape.

Glad your ok.

Im thinking about putting some of those deer whistles on my bike.
I tried those deer whistles back in the ’70s or early ‘80s. I never hit a deer!

Took them off thereafter, or they fell off, and in the 30+ years since then, I never hit a deer!

What does that prove? Maybe that I keep a keen awareness of deer around me, and react accordingly. If I was to go out on the roads around me at dusk, it’s almost a given that I will see 4 or more deer along the road, so it’s not like we don’t have them. They walk through my yard every day.

I agree, they may not work, but might as well give them a try, don’t think they would increase the odds of me hitting a deer.

Deer whistles do work. I put a set on my 2012X in 14 right under and in front of the turn signals. Numerous early mourning rides I have approached a deer or more and their ears turn down and they run the other way. They are cheap and work on other animals. Stay safe brothers

Was it the deer whistle or the bike itself they ran from.....They probably havent been taught to run from whistles, but the close calls with humans, vehicles, probably have taught them to run the other way......if they cant hear the high pitch of our engines, doubt if they can hear the whistles...

Tape over your whistles so they are temporarily disabled, then observe deer behavior in the same settings and circumstances.

Thanks mooseonbass! PM sent.

Yeah, funny enough I have a deer whistle I was saving for an electric motorcycle I'm building. Maybe I shouldn't have waited, but I'd be surprised if it would have made a difference.

My wife went back to the crash site to collect any pieces, she said the deer is still there, but now headless. Guess somebody wanted the antlers.

Also could use a left bar end weight, internal and external. And a stock kickstand. The kickstand wasn't damaged during the accident, but by the tow driver, bent the hell out of it when he was cranking it down. Wife told him to use the centerstand but he knew better I guess.

Rode it again today! Just up and down the block (my arm is still in a sling), but I'm happy to report it rides straight! The forks appear to be OK, I can take my hands off the bars without going into the ditch. I did discover that the handlebar got pretty bent up.
