How to attach tank bag to NCX

one of these days when i need a bit more space like the Wolfman front set, we'll see if what i'm talking about is the same as what you guys just offered up ; }

George, did you see this other thread?

I only use the map pocket but my favorite tank bag, a Cortech Mini, rides well there on occasion. I didn't want to release straps or anything to open the frunk and found the velcro on the underside of the lid retains the tank bag base.

I had not seen that, Dave. Thanks. Folks thinking out'a the box are where progress is made.

Finally found these with Google search but don't have a tank bag yet to match them to.
Metal Flat Hooks coated and plain

May modify my little Gold Wing bag, at least look at it. Always nice to have one bag, easier to transfer "stuff" that way. :D

Attaching enough metal to the lid seems to be the solution if a magnetic bag or map holder is desired.

I took apart the lid and used tape to secure 4 of these bad boys up to the underside of the (RED on my bike) plastic frunk lid

K&J Magnetics: BX8X04

placed in-between the layers of the cover, facing up, and re assembled the cover

my Magnetic bag worked well.

HOWEVER, I did find that the bag gets in the way and because I do go in and out of the frunk on a very regular basis, it was a PITA, so, I don't use the mag bag anymore

sorry I didn't take any pics, but the whole procedure took 5 min with a large philips screwdriver. very simple way to get your existing Mag Bag to work on a plastic frunk

I actually thought about placing these under the plastic top side, just to the outside of the frunk (kind of up and over the fake air inlets), so things like keys and glasses and phones won't go wandering off when the bike is on the sidestand. this is a very tilted bike on the sidestand.

For the owners of a 2016 model with the frunk rails a DIY project. My wife is handy with needle & thread, so she converted a magnets tank bag for her NC2016XD.

Just ordered several 1" vinyl coated hooks. Plan to add straps to a small tank bag and hook the the frunk lid edges. Pics to follow.

I need to take some pics. Ordered a Dowco bag called Iron Rider from Amazon. Magnetic. Glued 1" steel washers on the plastic lid. Works a charm. Also use it on my 83 Wing. The flaps with the magnets fold under the flip up lid on that bike. Love being able to use the same bag with a simple swap. :)
