How Does one remove Bar Weights?

Since I'm waiting for spring to sprung, I decided to install my heated grips and hand guards. I was doing well till I went to remove the inner bar weights.
There seems to be a clip - Item 13 ( seen in the parts graphic)


There are 2 holes at the end of the bar I am assuming these clips utilize.


Ive tried pushing items in the holes and pulling on the end screw but had no luck getting the inner parts out.
Does the service manual tell how to remove these? I am assuming some of you guys have removed them, whats the trick.

I'm trying to install these hand guards -


There is a thread that shows these guards, and where to get them ( E-bay) I ordered them from China as the original poster did. I just can't seem to find that post.
