I can only hope someone else has had a similar condition and can help solve this puzzle. I had gotten my bike back from fixing the shift motor failure and went for another ride. Came home after 140 miles and parked the bike. 6 days later I prepared to go for another ride. Rolled the bike off the center stand and forward to a stop in the garage. Heard a clicking sound I did not recognize from the back of the bike. Went to the station to fill up. Removed the fill cap and saw metal (a curved shape of the tank) 1/4” below the metal ring/guard at the fill area. Normally I can insert the fill nozzle from the dispenser (gas pump) into my tank a few inches. Not this time. Entire area covered by a steel plate. I was only able to add another 0.8 gal after the 140 miles so something was wrong. Went for a 70 mile ride and absolutely no movement of the gas gauge.
Just to convince myself I wasn’t imaging things I went to a Dealer and had him open the tank on an NC750x. Looked just like I thought it should with no metal blocking the fill area.
Has anyone experienced this?? Any guess as to what has happened??
