the last cable bike i had was an Africa Twin 2016
the throttle was perfect
i elected to fit MC Cruise control to the bike due to the distances i ride(AUD$1450) so not cheap
after fitting the cruise, the bike was unrideable....the added servo(needed as not ride by wire bike) gave an extra 30% of throttle load and i was faced with pulling the cruise off
i resolved the issue finally by building a lesser torsion spring

so with this bike i had no intention of fitting anything but a throttle lock
i had never tried kaoko so decided to go down that path

reading about bar vibration damper removal on this site i went ahead and removed same
but when the locker turned up it seems that i could've left the vibe part in place
i dont have Bark busters but do have Givi handguards.....so now i have no internal thread(nut)to attach the locker
i decided that refitting the damper was not going to be strong enough(2 springs popping out into holes just wasnt doing it for me)

so i removed the spring and refitted the damper(deeper down the handlebar)
then i turned up a nut so as to be interference fit inside the bars, coated it with bearing mount loctite, then smacked it into the bar end

looking at the kit which arrived, there are several thrust washers, none of which looked suitable
the one nominated for my bike was the same outside diameter as the throttle tube...which means the friction was generating from two tubes rubbing together...not going to happen,i needed a thrust washer which fitted inside the throttle tube
so i ended up making my own

everything back together and a short test ride and i am really happy with my set up.........throttle pull is light, and kaoko holds really well
but disappointed with the kit....maybe i was doing it wrong?
coulb be that the oem throttle tube is different O.D. from the oxford heated grips tube...that may explain incorrect spigot dia of the thrust washer

some pics of the fitup

Thanks for the info on these.

I looked at them a few years ago. The reviews were generally all favorable. I opted to go with ATLAS Throttle Locks, mainly because they were far easier to install. I'm happy with my choice but I'd be interested to hear about your opinions after a few good long rides with the Kaoko.

Quick note that there is a reasonable Black Friday deal on the Kaoko Throttle Lock on Twisted Throttle.

I have searched a lot and basically never see these on sale or much below $125 so I think this is a reasonable, if not "screaming" deal.
