I haven't had a chain guard or rear fender on the bike for over a year so a few months ago I ordered an Ermax one from France and just finished painting it today.
It hasn't been mounted yet I just mocked it up for the pictures to see how the color looked. The color isn't perfect but it is really hard to get a perfect match as I think the different panels on my bike have aged differently. It being the rear fender I don't think anyone will notice.
At first, I picked up the color match kit from Color rite but all the test sprays I did, didn't look right. So I did a base coat of a cherry red color from home depot and 2 coats of the color rite which I think made a big difference. The Magna red color has a bit of orange at some angle but seems like it also has some magenta in it.
I left both the chain guard section and all the mounting points on the sides unpainted black so it would look better when it gets dirty and also blend into the bike better. All the full red pics I had seen just looked a little cheap to me. I think this is a nice compromise.
After I let it cure I'll polish it and mount it for fitment. When I did the mock-up it looked like it might have some alignment issues but I'm hoping once bolted on it lines up fine. It's plastic so maybe I can heat it and bent it if it doesn't line up right.
Does anyone have an Ermax fender that had alignment issues?
