I’m wanting to add highway pegs to my bike, looks like the best way to do this would be to mount engine guards and mount the pegs to those. Who has done this and what bars did you go with?

Kuryakyn #7993 highway pegs have clamps that fit the frame down tubes without having to use engine guards if you wanted to go that route.

I have installed Givi (or Kappa) engne guards on my 2012, upon which I have mounted highway pegs and auxiliary lights. The setup works well, but I often wonder if mounting the pegs to the lower frame and the lights elsewhere would work just as well. The bike has never tipped over in 12 years, and I don’t expect it to, so the guards are just more weight and hardware in the way.

I have Givi with highway pegs from JP Cycle and generic fog lights.

Mine has blown over a few times in Colorado wind (while parked) and it definitely saved some bologna.

Reviving an old thread here, but do you guys have pics of what you've done for highway pegs?
I saw the ones that Dave mentioned, the Kury ones, they look good, but wow those sure are spendy these days :).

I have what I think are "R Gaza" bars on the bike and trying to find something that is not going to stick out or get caught on stuff when not deployed.
I think with these on the bike, I can't really install that type of highway peg onto the frame.

I have the same bars. I'll just plop my feet up onto that mid-bar for short periods of time to mix things up!

I'll have to go sit on it in the garage and try that, I was out riding last week and tried but you know how it is while riding, I just couldn't get my feet in the right spot...

I also have highway pegs that clamp to the frame bars, and fold up if I don't want to use them.

I tried mounting a flip out peg on the R Gaza small engine guard and found it didn't work for me, my legs are to long (or to stiff) and they were to high. I found a couple different ones recently on ebay recently.

This one seems promising, made for the NC. It is really hard to tell exactly what they are attaching it to. Position looks good but not sure if the R Gaza bars will interfere. These are nice in that they would be completely out of the way when retracted.

Otherwise, these might work attached to the R Gaza's, maybe right behind the "T" and angled back with the same angle as the front part of the bar:

you have to measure the diameter of the part you want to mount the pegs to ... this is critical. I put SW Motech engine guards on my 2015 DCT, and the guards work great but the tube diameter is 27mm, and almost no foot pegs have mounting brackets for that exact diameter. That means either they are too small or way too big (at 1" or 1.25"). I had to jury rig a set, buying a little too big and using spacers to help ... they work, but not great.

Yes you are correct, I measured the R Gaza bars at 28mm (1-1/8") so these should be good!
They should be here tomorrow, so I'll know more this weekend.

Givi engine guards bars. I really like these highway pegs, but they did have to be pegged to the crash bar with a screw to keep them from spinning.View attachment 118273

Bought them on Amazon, here: https://a.co/d/9w6YPPI
I've got a 2024 and Givi bars, though they're two pieces for that year, and extremely similar pegs on mine now. Probably made in the same factory. 😆 Haven't had a chance to try them on a multi hour ride yet, but they seem pretty effective so far.
