I know this is an old thread, but is the HD109 key blank the correct one for the 21-24 model year bikes? Anyone make one of these lately?
Pre 2021 they used a toothed key. 21 and up they use what they call a wave key.

Sheesh that keyblank is not cheap! $22.50
No not cheap at all.

You also have 2 options on cutting your blank to length..cut it short, it will hug the frunk but the key can't be used in the ignition to start the bike

leave it long enough, and it sticks up a bit in the frunk lock but can be used as a spare ignition key

Is the cut to shorten it from the tip of key?

Made this mod today, and yeah - it’s kinda useful.

Then I realized I have always used the ignition key to open my gas tank… on any of my prior bikes… never ever thought about doing this with a spare before. But then, never had the frunk either 🙂

Found these blanks for 21 model year forward, on AliExpress for $1.16 each, so for $6.89 shipped I have 2 red blanks.

I took them to a local locksmith who cut them for me for $25 each, so for $56.89 I've got 2 extra keys now for the bike, both open the frunk and start the bike.
I can cut down one of them for my frunk fob, I bought the Goldwing radio knob to use as the knob part.
