I'm replacing my chain slider as it is beyond its service life. Problem is, I cannot get the two screws holding it to the swingarm to loosen. I'm prepared to cut and drill them out but before I do I'm curious if anyone knows if these screws are threaded into the swingarm or if they are self-tapping. Anyone know?

may I suggest a manual impact screwdriver. You can pick one up at auto parts stores. Or even hardware stores. I bought my first one in 1975 to remove stubborn screws on my Yamaha 80 enduro. It works great! And you won't strip out the screwhead. You can find videos on how to use them.
