Between the NCX 700 and the NCX 750 ....

That is a risky assumption. Mine were at limit at 8000 miles. Would have been past specs at 16000. Some have found valves past spec at 8000.

Your ride, your call, good luck.

8.jpgChecking the values is one of the easy tasks. Once you get in there and learn how. Just do it.

Has anyone found tighter than the limit valves?
Myself I would check valves based on my ear feedback (at the end of a long screwdriver touching the head) but this works only for over loose and not over tight valves that are also a real damage liability while over loose valves are far less of a problem.

+1. I've checked two NC's valves. My own at 10k miles (first check) which the exhaust valves were right on the tight edge of spec, and a freind's at 12k miles (first check) which were dead-on the middle of spec still.

So, skipping a check here or there might be just fine, but I'd check them the first few intervals to get an idea of where they're at and how they're wearing.

Having given this more thought after reading what some of you have found I will either do the check myself or as part of the service around September when 2 year service is due and the bike wont have more than 11k on the clock so feel comfortable doing that

At 8k mine were right on the tight limit.

From what I know, valves may tighten up on the first thousands of miles as they become better seated so they come closer to the rockers and after that it is all widening as camshaft drivetrain wears more than their seats.
