How To Auxiliary Lighting

Hi,

I’m new and I was reluctant to make a post about my problem connecting some auxiliary lights to my 2019 NC750X, but I can’t seem to figure it out.

I have a few questions and hopefully I’ll get a solution but will see! I searched the forum for the same problem but couldn’t find a thread with the same question.

1: I’m trying to connect some Puig LED Auxiliary lights with a pretty straight forward manual, my only problem is the key line that needs to be connected to a “life” wire when the bike is on. I don’t want to cut in wires to make this work so I was thinking about a Fuzeblock or Thunderbox to connect the key line to, will this work to resemble a life wire?

2: I already have a tickle charger connected to my battery with a fuse, I wanted to double tap with the auxiliary lights, but the FB or TB also needs to bo connected to the battery. Is it possible to connect 3 accessory to the battery (2 with fuses)? Or do I need to strip the cables of the light to put in the FB or TB

3: Is it necessary to buy the subharnass + relay to connect the lights or other accessory’s?
4: If I want to add more accessory’s can I connect them to the FB or TB without using the battery connectors?

The Fuzeblock will allow you to connect up to six devices, with your choice whether each individual one comes on with the key switch or is always on. The Fuzeblock can keep the wiring tidy and minimize the number of wire splices and inline fuses you might have to use for multiple accessories. That said, if you want key switched power, you will still need to tap into one wire on the bike that is live or hot only when the key is on, in order to trigger it’s relay

Thunderbox, as I understand it, can sense when the bike is on, thus you would not need to tap into a wire on the bike for key switched power. But for other reasons, mainly fusing and safety issues with proper wire protection, I don’t recommend Thunderbox. It is basically a big automatic relay, and although the Thunderbox protects itself from faults, you really still need to fuse individual loads for proper wire and device protection. Since Thunderbox electrical connections are all external terminal blocks on the ends of wire, the wiring can become a real mess with multiple accessories attached.

You can theoretically stack as many wires and fuseholders as you want straight on the battery, but the resulting wiring mess would not be convenient or good engineering practice.

Using the Honda accessory harness and relay has limitations on total current supply (might be 7.5 amps) but it does provide an easy and safe way to connected key switched accessories.

I only want to add the lights and a quadlock charger, these accessories have a external fus.

I thought I didn’t need to connect to a life wire using a Fuzeblock or Thunderbox.. The instructions tells me that the box automatically knows when the bike is on or started, when on it doesn’t power the accessories until the bike is started. Is this the same as the Fuzeblock?

Or do you recommend the Honda accessory harnas and do I also need to find a life wire for the switched key?

Fuzeblock requires a wire to a key switch controlled 12 volt source.

Thunderbox automatically senses when the motorcycle is on.

The Honda accessory harness is live when the motorcycle is on by way of a relay added to the Honda fuse box.
