Why take a DR-Z400S and build a supermoto on your own, when you can have Suzuki Motorcycles do it for you? The DR-Z400SM is the supermoto version of the DR-Z400S, taking offroad ingenuity and technology and stuffing it into a street-legal supermotard package perfect for flying around the city. It’s a solid addition to the 2021 lineup.
This Japanese-built factory supermoto has a top speed of 94 mph thanks to Suzuki’s legendary 398cc, liquid cooled, four-stroke engine producing 39 horsepower and 29 lb-ft of torque. That might not seem like much, but with a curb weight of 322 pounds, it’s more than enough power to fulfill all your hooligan needs.
When compared to the DR-Z400S (hyperlink), it’s good to take note of the other features Suzuki has added to make this bike more suited for the road: inverted front fork, wider spoked rims, and a much larger 300mm front brake for increased stopping power on pavement. We also get new colour and graphic options when compared to last year’s 2020 model.

Engine Features
Lightweight, 398cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, dry-sump engine produces strong, tractable power.
Compact, four-valve cylinder head has 36mm intake valves, 29mm exhaust valves, narrow 28-degree included valve angle, and shim-under-bucket valve adjustment system.
Simple electric starting is powered via a lightweight starter motor with an automatic mechanical decompression system.
SCEM-plated cylinder (nickel-silicon-phosphorus) is lighter and more durable than an iron liner and has excellent heat transfer properties.
Forged aluminum piston is 10 percent lighter than a cast piston and receives additional oil-cooling through a crankcase oil jet.

The left side body cover has quick-release fasteners for easy access to the air filter.
