This state I live in is way too large for all roads to be sealed.

I think he meant posts, literally, like road marker posts we have for winter when the snowplows need to know where the road edges are. We don't (well I never have seen any) have posts on gravel roads up here

Yep, what LBS said. I've seen posts kind of like that for the snowplows to know where the edge of the road is but never seen them on a dirt road like that.

We don't get snow there ever. Markers are for people driving at night to be able to see which way the road is turning. This road is very close to the main highway, so they fit those markers. Roads further away may not get them.

The first day of a two day trip ended at the Collgar Wind-farm near Merredin, in the middle of the Western Australian wheatbelt. There are 111 wind turbines in that area.
