    Is rear shock adjustable?

It helps to look at the shock assembly and its integration to the bike frame and swing arm. Higher pre-load increases the amount of load (rider self weight) that must be applied before the shock assembly will begin to compress. Generally, bikes should have about 30% of sag (shock...

    Is rear shock adjustable?

Look down from the sky, the ring must be turned CLOCKWISE to TIGHTEN the spring. This will increase the preload, which is desirable for heavier riders. Note, there are two rings to turn. The top ring is merely a locking ring. The bottom ring is fused to the shock's body; turning this ring...

    Is rear shock adjustable?

That 'mud guard' does a great job of keeping the rear shock coil and piston rod clean, despite riding through wet dirty roads. It is made from very stiff plastic, about 4 mm thick. I cut it to shape. It is fastened merely with velcro straps; the straps go through holes cut in the mud flap so...

    Is rear shock adjustable?

You should dial in more preload than me. Afterwards, when you sit on bike, it should sag probably 30 mm - for regular roads. If you ride on bumpier roads, etc, than good stiffer, with 20 to 25 mm sag. Note, I ride normal roads (regarding swales, dips, speed bumps), for which I have never...

Protecting my hearing with Noise Cancelling Headphones

Following are published sound attenuation levels. I have used ALL these products; I would agree with the relative difference of each from one another. WRONG: (Note to reader: each increment of -3 dB is equal to halving of the perceived sound attenuation.) CORRECTED: (Note to reader: each...

Protecting my hearing with Noise Cancelling Headphones

For years I have been in endless pursuit of ways to attenuating the aggrevating noise of my various motorcycles. I always kept the muffler stock. I have tried tall after-market wind screens. I have invested in $500 to $800 on helmets each. I have a pair of custom molded silicone earplugs. I...

    Helmet Support Collars

I made one and use it when riding on the highway. I wear it, not for safety, but to quieten the ride. Allot of the noise to a rider is from turbulent air under the helmet. The foam collar blocks that area, resulting in a much quieter ride.

    Supercharged Kawasaki? Now supercharged NC!!

Isn't the supercharge boast level related to the engine's rpm? Honda marketing had highlighted that the NC700/750 engine delivers relatively high torque while at low rpm. This apparently is a true merit of its engine, and appreciated when the rider pulls away from a stop without needing to...

Does anyone else turn off motor while at red light?

Hybrid cars have their engine off while at red lights as do a few non-hybrid cars. This saves gasoline and reduces emissions. Since buying the NC750, I have adopted the habit of turning off the engine at a stop if I had entered the beginning of a red-green traffic cycle. I wanted to know if...

    New Rider and Helmet Noise?

Most noise to a rider's ears is coming from underneath the helmet - at the neck line. If you can seal this area, then noise is appreciably attenuated. I wear a foam padded neck collar. It makes a huge difference in attenuation. It may be too warm in the summer for some riders, but now in...

Honda NC750-S (750) 2014 - Well balanced for nimble handling. - Sensible power with fuel economy. - Performs well in city and highway. - My ideal bike after previous four. Vespa GTS (300) 2010 - Nimble and easy riding in city. - Very quiet and smooth riding. - Adequate but limited on...

Making for a QUIETER ride (screen and helmet)

Yes, a good (tight) fit can mitigate the noise immensely. My HJC Sy-Max helmet is now 6 years old; the foam has compressed resulting in a looser fit that has become noisy. My BMW System-7 (Schuberth), now 3 years old, still fits snugly but its hinged flip-up does allow some noise to enter the...

Making for a QUIETER ride (screen and helmet)

Agree. The collar does make for a warmer ride. I found that when speeds get over 80 kph (highway) then the noise is too aggrevating. My intention is only to ride with the foam collar on highways where the higher speeds are too noisy for my comfort. On the highway, the higher wind speed...

Making for a QUIETER ride (screen and helmet)

This thread is about how I have made my ride quieter by: 1) using an alternate arrangement for a laminar lip on a stock short screen, and 2) enhancing a quality helmet with a foam neck collar. MY TOUR I recently came back from a 5 day ride, covering 2400 km. This took me mostly through...
