Why I don’t worry about the air filter

I never changed the air filter on my departed 2014 with 27K miles on the clock. The bike consistently got 64+ MPG the whole time I owned it. The new owner was aware of this and not concerned. Edit: I stopped using Fuelly years ago when my son Max started riding with me.

Post your 2021 Model Riding Impressions Here

Or instead of a toot-toot warning with the horn as you are about to pass someone with the throttle wide open you drop two gears in the same amount of time it takes to say "toot-toot." My fix was a piece of PVC tubing packed with steel putty jammed over the turn signal switch that stayed on the...

    650 v strom vs 750x dct

I have only sat on one once at a Honda dealership, the tank was half full, I found the bike at 5'-8" to be very top heavy. A friend of mine has one and loves it. He redid the wiring on his bike and just for giggles he weighed the headlight housing and said it weighed 38 lbs.

Senior Lady on brand new '21 NC750xd...my experience so far

Welcome back to riding and good luck with your new bike. I highly recommend joining a BMW club if one is available in your area. The BMW Motorcycle Owners of America has a list of clubs here: https://www.bmwmoa.org/page/clubs The official policy of the national club is to accept all brands for...

    Is Aerostitch worth it?

The first 'Stich I bought I found on Ebay for $275, it was a too big 46 Regular with a huge Bohn back protector included. I sold it for $350 after wearing it for 6 years. Three years ago bought the used two piece pictured below on Ebay for $369, size 44 Short which feels like it was tailored...

The only thing i really dont like about my bike

IIRC Scooterboi on the ADV Rider forum replaced his final drive chain on one of his two Heinkel Tourist scooters at 125,000 miles. That chain sits in an oil bath.

Looking for motorcycle cover advice for NC700X-DCT

I was just looking at Dowco covers to replace the cover I discarded and just to complicate matters Dowco now makes a cover that zippers closed over the rear of the bike.

What's the slowest speed you'll shift into sixth?

I left out that that behavior occurs when I'm riding in Drive mode not Sport. The 2014 bikes only have Drive, Sport or Manual to choose from.

Looking for motorcycle cover advice for NC700X-DCT

I had a Dowco Weather-All Plus in size XL that would cover the bike with the Givi top and side cases on most of the way down the bike to about a foot or so short of the ground. That cover lasted 15 years before the softer heat resistant area on the lower20 inches of the cover started to fall...

    Looking at a riding club

Let me twist your ear off about my club. I joined the BMW Motorcycle Owners of Vermont, the main BMW MC club here in VT back when I was still riding my Honda Silver Wing scooter. They're a great bunch of people, I was welcomed with open arms and I was even VP for three years. Our club is a BMW...

    Forma Adventure Boots

That's how I found my first pair of Gore Tex Oxtar (now TCX) Matrix boots. They were $108 on closeout at Motorcycle Gear dot com when the Oxtar brand was bought out and the name changed to TCX. They lasted about 14 years before the zippers broke on both boots within a month of each other. After...

    NC700x without back seat

Old Can Ride had the idea of cutting a hole at the forward edge of the rear seat to gain access to the fuel cap, I think he used a large hole saw to do it. IIRC he covered the hole with a flap of fabric to hide the unlocked cap. Here it is...

General opinion on riding with backpack?

I tried using a backpack on a long trip but took it off after 100 miles on that ride and strapped it to the rear seat. I attached an extension tube that was covered with foam insulation to keep the water in the line from heating up.

    Question NC700X Covers- Outdoor storing

I have a black and grey Dowco Weather-All Plus in size XL that I have been using for the past 15 years or so. I think I bought it for my Honda Silver Wing. I can be lazy and keep my 52 liter top case on the bike, the Dowco cover still works. Just 2 months ago the heat resistant lower grey area...

2021 NC750x overview. Lower weight, new plastic, new dash display

I don't understand no cruise control on the DCT bikes, they seem to me to be the perfect platform from a safety point of view. I have never managed in my 6 years of ownership to stall the DCT.

    I bought a new 2020 Xmax 300

Kymco makes a decent maxi but they can be hard to find, the local dealer does not carry them in stock, only the smaller bikes and ATV's. The Honda Forza 300 was withdrawn from the US market but the new Forza 350 might come to the US, I found the Forza 300 a little cramped. I considered a Vespa...
