    What apps do you use?

No, you didn't. The magnitude and generally vector direction of the acceleration is completely different. So, to repeat for anyone you have confused with your mistake: Does the app send an "I crashed!" alert if I simply drop the phone on the ground when I get off the bike at a refuel stop (or...

    What apps do you use?

Do you know: Does that mean it’ll send an “I crashed!” alert if I simply drop the phone on the ground when I get off the bike at a refuel stop (or similar)?

    iPhones and Motorcycle Vibration

Multiple iPhones have shut down on me due to overheating. They were in OtterBoxes or other cases (some without face covers). The southern AZ sun in the summer will shut them all down. They don’t shut down every time all the time, but all of them have shut down. If you’d like to see yours...

Need Help Loss of power in 6th gear

No matter what anyone claims, DTCs aren’t very useful diagnostic tools in terms of reliably indicating a problem or indicating the actual problem UNLESS there’s a total, outright failure of a directly-monitored part.

Rebuilding a Russell's Day Long Saddle

I’ll be curious for your feedback on the viscoelastic foam. I _hate_ that stuff in a seat.

Question Rear wheel bearing (disc side) went bad at 54,000 mi. Going to replace all 3 bearings though, should I only buy bearings from Honda?

That reminds me of a ‘special’ bearing in the rear wheel or hub assembly on Honda’s VTX1800. They quit offering the bearing as an individual item and for quite q while now will only sell the entire assembly. Dedicated people can often replace with alternatives, but not necessarily cost-effectively.

    Shorty shield

Is the screen that you started with Honda’s Touring screen for that year, or the base screen?

Question Rear wheel bearing (disc side) went bad at 54,000 mi. Going to replace all 3 bearings though, should I only buy bearings from Honda?

To answer your OP, I’d be perfectly content to buy bearings from a local bearing house, so long as I knew the spec. There’s more to bearings than simply race diameters and widths. If the factory ones have the complete numbers on them still, you’re probably fine. A _good_ bearing house may be...

Rebuilding a Russell's Day Long Saddle

Electric carving knife is what we use (Dad makes all his own seats, and I've made one for my wife and re-shaped one of mine). Just like slicing a brick of cheese, some people cut straight, some people don't... (-:

    Is Aerostitch worth it?

At this point in my motorcycling life, I find the lack of hip pads on ‘protective’ gear inexcusable.

    Question Phone mounts

I also use Ram mounts, and am very happy with them. For smartphones, I prefer their Quick-Grip phone mount. I have no experience with the x-type mounts (with only 4 touch points). Nevertheless I dislike the design in a situation where the device may by jolted (like on a motorcycle). They seem...

The only thing i really dont like about my bike

Did you miss the part about the riveted master also failing? It was installed incorrectly, just like the clip one before it. That post does not support your position. **EDIT: Tacoma, my post was not intended as an ‘attack’ at all. I’m analyzing data today, and I was in that mode when I...

The only thing i really dont like about my bike

If a belt drive uses a tensioner system, small stones _should_ be able to be tolerated, as one would also expect them to rarely get caught on a road bike. There are some who ride the NCX like an adventure bike. I don't know whether a belt drive would prevent them using it like that or not...

Tried a new plug in my NC700XD

I read a thing yesterday, though now I can’t recall where (sure it was a thread on here), which I _thought_ was a data sheet saying the factory plugs have no special firing point on the ground strap (ground strap is just cupro-nickel; no platinum or iridium pad on it). Perhaps Honda expect there...

Didn’t know that; thanks. Guess that makes them like most every brand name that most people know in the automotive realm.

Tried a new plug in my NC700XD

I swapped back to the factory NGKs a little while ago to try to figure out why my mpg has been low. That didn't help mpg, which just means the spark plugs had nothing to do with it. I think I'm about to put some copper Autolites in, though I've no real reason why other than that's what the...

Tried a new plug in my NC700XD

    I've read that a lot, and generally held with that view. In fact I tested that story here on the forum with my NCX and plain-copper Champions. They ran perfectly, with no decrease in either fuel economy or casually-observed performance. (-;

    Freeway speeds

I also prefer, in terms of safety, to ride on multi-lane, divided, limited-access roadways rather than city surface streets, arterials, and 'country roads.' There is no question that accident and fatality rates are much lower there (on the freeways and divided highways). I've talked with many...

    Trailoring

Follow 670cc’s instructions. For me, dirt bikes were most always fine in the back of the pickup with just 2 straps so long as I strapped them down hard enough to compress the dots 50 - 75% (though I always preferred 4). Sometimes the rear ties would step sideways, though. The NCX hasn’t needed...
