Dang expensive little mod lol

Did the $36.54 include the cost of the blank? Did keys4urride.com provide the blank?
Yep - it was "all in" cost, including shipment, around the middle of last year, Note: I did have to supply them with the key code, originally from Honda, so if you don't have your code, not sure how that would work.

The key code is now a bar code looking thing with just a couple letters and numbers on it. Mine has 1 letter 3 numbers.

Yeah, mine too. My recollection's a bit fuzzy but I seem to think that the alpha & numbers was all that was needed for the duplication

This goes back to the first NC. The “knob key” allows quick easy access the seat and frunk and to the passer by just looks like a knob. It can be left in position with very little risk. Removed if needed. The knob key will not start the bike.

NOTE : side winder, laser cut, wave key are the same style key. (They are not cut on laser or with laser)

I appreciate the great ideas here. So, I made a similar Frunk Key for my bike (photos below).
BTW, I found a good source for the Key… ABC Locksmiths. They had a Honda code and brass blank that was very close to my key (2022 NC750XD). It just didn’t have the long center groove (called a Ward), but it works fine for the Frunk. The key won’t fit at all into the ignition hole without that center groove, so fortunately there’s no way it could be used by a bad actor for the ignition. The locksmith only charged $25 for everything.

I couldn’t find a knob like yours, so I had some fun and designed one in my SolidWorks 3D software and then printed it with PETG-carbon fiber thermoplastic filament on my 3D Prusa printer. I had to paint the raised letters with a tiny brush and then used a clear coat. I think this will hold up. I intentionally slanted the key at a 10deg angle relative to the knob so it would lay flush with my panel, and fit it as close as I could. It works great in the fast food drive-thru without have to shut off the engine, and is small enough to carry around if needed.

This may be a super silly question...
Didn't see it mentioned, so if I did miss it, please disregard.

Loved showkey's solution (first "knob pic"). Elegantly simple. However...

I am admittedly frugal and notoriously lazy. I was given two keys with my bike (guessing this is the norm?). If turning off the ignition to open the frunk or fuel is inconvenient, why not just carry both keys?

why not just carry both keys?
You could of course, however if you lose both you are in a very bad place indeed. I went down the route of getting a non chipped key cut for frunk and fuel, although I rarely actually remember to use it.

As far as the frugality………depending on the year.
US market has all non chipped keys…….conventional keys ( not side winder, not laser, not milled, other terminology ) can be purchased and cut for under $5.
Blanks and cutting newer style keys are more expensive and prices vary widely.

I could easily find Honda keys at the Hardware store WITHOUT the center groove for just a few bucks. I assumed it had to have that groove, and therefore thought I had to buy the very expensive Honda MC blank. Had I known that the groove-less key would have worked in the frunk I could have saved about $50

Sometimes simple things like this take the longest time to resolve... like finding a key or a knob that you want.
If anyone has access to a 3D printer and wants to print my approximation of showkey's cool knob, I can supply the STL file. It might save you a little time. My knob fits the newer bikes with angled panel.
