Well Poop. I'm motorcycle-only for the foreseeable future. I got thieved.

About 15 years ago my daughter's old (at that time) Accord suffered an internal cat failure and become obstructed. I took it to a muffler shop and asked the service guy if a solution was available other than the expensive cat replacement and hinted at just gut it and weld it up. He said "sure, I can weld in a straight pipe for about $12,000 or the cost of EPA and Florida fines for doing so."

I read lately that like everything else catalytic converters are in short supply for many types of vehicles popular for this thievery. Salt in the wound.

I had and old catalytic converter up in my attic from a 2011 Mitsubishi lancer. A buddy said I should call this metals guy and he'll give you cash on the spot for them...
Skeptical I called and the guy drove up that night and handed me $1000 in cash for that one cat. (Plus $150 each for 4 smaller secondary cats from Audi and BMW).

So if a guy if going to give me $1000 for a 11 year old cat you can imagine what the metals in them are worth...

I'd agree with the other people, just have a muffler shop weld a straight pipe in there and be done with it. (Wait until you see the price of replacement cats)

If you still are looking for ideas on how to get the kids shuttled around to school, sports and activities on the bike here is a guy who clearly has it all figured out . . .

Have you considered a TrailTail trailer? I drove up to Kelowna BC to save the shipping costs a couple winters ago...

I really don’t understand why we put up with this nonsense. Why aren’t theives treated as such rather than our current “social justice” mentality? Our church bus has had the cat stolen THREE times sitting in the lighted parking lot. Little jerks got caught once and slapped on the wrist. I don’t want to hassle anybody, but I tried convincing folks that a nice battery powered electric fence charger wired correctly would solve the problem. (At least you’d hear the SOB’s scream when they touched the cat).

Common sense is rarely common. Common sense solutions are even more rare. But I'm with you on this.

You get the society you vote for.

Been watching elections since 1968 the first year I became eligible to vote and usually in this country 51% get the government they think they want, while 49% do not. 2% of the voters usually make it swing one direction or the other, and often a single issue ( like the economy) is enough to make the difference.

Well in the case of this thread we had a theft.

And I think a lot of people are fed up with crime in this country and will be, among other things, voting for some sort of crackdown on crimes.

I know the DA in San Francisco, who was soft on crime, just got recalled for being soft on crime. The OP in this thread is from that same state, but I don't know if the whole state is soft on crime or not.

PLEASE, no matter which party is in charge we are in trouble.

When in office voting along party lines IS NOT why you're in office.
Voting the way our constituents want is the right and ONLY way.

Spending tens of millions to get elected when that money could feed so many hungry, yet I have to see ad after ad, which by the way does anyone even remotely believe anything in a political ad any more, is despicable!

AND PACS, which a few years ago were expanded to include businesses, are legalized bribery.
How that is allowed I dont understand.

The fighting between the two parties is like kindergarten kids. I hate it.
The finger pointing and how its always the other parties fault for whatever reason, and how the two parties are ALWAYS on the opposite side of an issue. Never fails!
I do NOT CARE which party you are from. But if a majority was from a party other than the big two, I'd love it!

I do not vote any longer because of these things.
