Inspired by dduelin's morning post, I rode out to the southern edge of Ohio on my Christmas day ride (that's Kentucky on the other side of the river)

made a quick(?) trip up & over the mountain to Big Stone Gap VA to visit family for Christmas - up Saturday & back on Sunday, 250-miles each way. Beautiful ride thru Morganton & Newland (North Carolina), Roan Mountain, Elizabethton, & Kingsport (Tennessee). My first on 2-wheels, invigorating, excited to do it again soon!

Got home from work yesterday with 40 minutes of day light left (didnt ride to work because it was in the 40s and raining...nope), partly sunny and 70'F (on Dec 27-I will take it). Put on my riding gear and went for a 15 mile loop in the countryside-there is about 100 curves in that 15 mile loop and up/down steep hills...no pics-enjoyed riding...felt good-(note to self, make sure to warm tires before leaning into a curve at a brisk pace). Going to rain now till Sunday and then a very cold front coming in....So, I will start doing some maintenance on the bike....I should change the OEM spark plugs (now at 62,000 miles)-just because and I need to bite the bullet and change the OEM air filter....bike has been starting/running normally, MPG hasnt changed, but it is time.

Good report, davidc83. I did a ride yesterday, too (CRF250), ahead of the coming cold front.

I’m still on my original spark plugs at 58,000 miles, and planning to change them at 64,000. Would you mind measuring and them posting the gap you measure when you pull your plugs? Also, although I change my air filter at 24,000 (and it hardly looks dirty), I’d be interested in seeing how yours looks at 62,000. Happy maintenance!

Yep, plan on taking pics of spark plugs and air filter. I change the air filter in my Prius every 10,000 miles (2 minute job) and they almost look like new when I change it. The cabin filter is always in worse shape (but I have little critters get in the car all the time and nest around the cabin filter, and I have a mouse trap I keep loaded in the car. All these miles on the bike, been surprised that the starting hasnt changed (started yesterday on the second grind (or whatever you call it) after not being started in a month, and my MPG on my country roads is about the same as 7 years ago.

Just mounted the remote control for Venture Heated Jacket liner.
I installed Oxford heated grips last year.
The temperature here is unusually high, hovering around freezing, so I hope to get out tomorrow to have a last ride in 2021 And try out the new gear.
Cheers

Temps here are hovering around 32(F) - 0(C) so my bike is sitting in the garage with the Battery Tender plugged in. Supposed to get snow over the weekend. So I don't see the situation changing for the next several days.

Just got home from a 100km ride. Temperature was about 40F.
The Venture heated liner was excellent. I had it on the lowest setting and I was toasty.
Last night I made a Frunk key from an old flashlight, works great.
The picture shows the Niagara River and Lewiston NY is on the other side of the river.

The local high temperature was 55 degrees F, which is about 20 degrees F above average here for Dec 31. So I rode the NC to get the tag game photo, and then another 40 miles or so.

This fall and winter has had good motorcycle riding weather. Now when I think ahead to summer 2022, I dread the several months of relentless high heat and harsh sunshine. Summer is becoming my least favorite season.

I'll take the heat over cold every day. I hate cold lol

Got in 61 miles New Years eve day split between the CB and the NC.

Heavy rain predicted for tomorrow (starting tonight) might put my annual New Years Day ride in jeopardy though.

57 mile ride in some heavy mist. Sets me up to finish the year topping 16,500 miles if I can get in a 41 miler on new Years Eve.
I parked my NC for the rest of the year :) and rode the Wing 156 miles on my last ride of 2021.

I ended up with 5,497 miles on my NC700X purchased in June.

Your top 5 standing on the ST forum mileage tracker indicates you had an outstanding year of riding dduelin. Congrats of the highest order sir.
Thank you Mickey. I'm blessed to have three bikes of different character and equally fun & interesting to ride.

It’s a new year, and a new thread for: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?
Saturday I installed newly purchased "Dale Rack" from forum member. I am not mechanical inclined but all went well. The biggest mystery was would it fit a 2020, which it did. Very well made, & very travel friendly, not having to unpack to gas up is a great convenience
