2021: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?

Looked at the NC700X resting peacefully and I smiled. She’s taking a break after taking me successfully to Newfoundland and back. There were no problems with the bike over the 6,300 miles. I did pull a 3/8” long nail out of the nearly new rear tire early in the trip, and it did not cause an air leak. Otherwise all I did was inspect the tires periodically, put gasoline in the tank, and maintain the @#%/! final drive chain.

Now I’m off to ride some other bikes or play with other toys.

Spent the afternoon installing drop pegs and fabricating a brake pedal extension.
The pegs from amazon were better quality than I expected but I don’t think I would go motocross riding with them. The stock brake pedal is 19mm in diameter, I had some scrap 1” x .120 wall steel tube that made a great extension to get the brake pedal under my foot. After notching one end to fit around the weld on the pedal I tapped a 6mm hole through the bottom of the extension into the stock pedal to hold every thing together. I use a cut wheel to make the diamond pattern for grip. Perfect fit for me getting that extra 1.5 “ drop on the pegs. but I’m not entirely happy having that brake pedal sticking out that much.

Also installed new Bark Busters Storm hand guards. Wanted red but only black and white is available. I used some 2”wide safety tape and a razor blade to add a splash of color.

What did I do to my NC in the last couple of days?
Between drilling a couple of propellers, bench running and tuning a rebuilt giant scale airplane engine plus Tig welding a couple of aluminum mufflers for friends. I finally had a chance to work on my own stuff.
Extended and powder coated the shift lever, did the frunk key mod and fabbed up a mount for the helmet cam remote switch.

And what kind of seat do you have?
Seat Concepts kit with gripper cover on the OEM seat pan. Foam density was custom made by Seat Concepts to match my lighter weight, rather than their target rider weight (of something like 230 pounds). Then before I stapled the cover on, I rounded off the painful (thigh cutting) styling ridges that most seats have, and I narrowed the front of the seat for ease in comfortably getting my feet down at stops. The SC seat already eliminates the typical NC forward slope. The seat has a little bit of a bucket to it but it’s mostly wide and flat at the aft end which allows me to shift position to promote air flow and give pressure points some periodic relief.

I think I can further improve this seat by adding a Sit and Fly mesh cover, to aid in air flow and in rain water drainage.

Key aspects making this seat successful was having the correct foam density and shaping it to match my anatomy. Sounds simple, but not so easy to obtain in the aftermarket.

Prior to this seat, I tried stock, Sargent, Seat Concepts without modifications, Shad, Saddlemen, and Russell DayLong, None really worked for me, but the Saddlemen was pretty close (mainly because it didn’t have thigh cutter styling ridges).

Your knob is cooler than mine lol

Ok, I've been silent as I'm sure many others have been regarding you videos.
But now I'd like to toss in my two cents here.
POV shots of riding are Boring. You need to cut down the POV shots to a few seconds a piece and add couple of different camera angles. It's very important to have some sort of story to your videos. A post production voice over explaining where and what your trying to relay in the video would be good.
Please just take this as a little advise from someone who has worked in the film industry ( 1st AC ) and two of my best friends are top film editors. It is not easy and its great your out there riding and documenting your rides, keep it up. We will be watching...

Nothing!

Brother in Law and his wife were in town for the past week. It has been hard to break away for any rides over the past 7 days. I got in a few hours on Thursday, a couple 15-25 mile trips to run errands during the week, but basically my riding has been dramatically curtailed. They are now in the air and on their way back to New Mexico so normal daily riding should resume tomorrow!

Went for a ride with some friends this week end.
We tried really hard to look badass. We may have failed on that point, but we had loads of fun doing it!

I now realize that on this picture, there are 3 Honda's! NC750X, CTX700 and Shadow(not sure here)!

…and I added my channel: Rider of the Storm- to the nc700 videos.

I also uploaded the last two hours from yesterdays ride as a video. Sorry.. not today’s ride but yesterday. Today’s comes later.

Also: This particular video forum is not searchable from the main search page. I knew it was there because I understand internet search engines. Good luck finding my videos on this forum!
I searched “Rider storm” and your video post in the NC700 Videos forum comes up as a search result.

Did my usual "Go East on the highest road across the length of the Santa Monica mountains". Posted that map a few months ago. The camel and dromedary who live near the top of 23 say hi !
Bonus this time : sun setting behind me, pink/orange rocks in front most of the way. Temps in the 70s.
Add low traffic, fog-free ocean, and better-than-my-usual curve carving (still nowhere near the Road5 limits), and you get one world-class ride, starting less than a mile from my garage.

To make it truly perfect, they need to spend a bit of time fixing the nasty cracks on Mulholland along Malibu Creek state park...

Posted the Marty B’s video. Go check it out under videos. See a real cowboy and cowgirl riding a horse. See great suburban gods watching over all they survey. Okeeeee…. That is overselling it.
Listen to my one-of-a-kind exhaust note and see what it means to ride in an environment where people are complete Spaceballs.

Pro tip of the day. Lay out your boots like you lay out your underwear. It is another step in preparation. Degrease and remove dirt and mud from the buckles. Forget this step enough times and you will snap off a buckle in a year.

My bathroom counter has hand cream and Simple Green. Leather treatment and high speed hair clippers. I just don’t have time to get my hair cut. Eat sleep ride repeat.

But, per the thread title, what did you do to/with your NC today?

There is another thread already running for random thoughts. https://www.nc700-forum.com/threads/random-thoughts-pics-thread.15545/page-19 or you can create one for pro tip of the day, or whatever. Please help us keep posts in their appropriate thread. No need to promote or advertise your videos in this thread. People can see them as new posts in the NC Videos forum.

Thank you in advance for helping keeping the forum better organized.
