Most days, all I have for breakfast is a piece of lightly buttered 45 calorie toast and a cup of hot tea. I've gone from 181 pounds down to 165 in the last couple of months. Today was Jimmy's 64th birthday, so we splurged with a nice ride and "store bought" breakfast. I wont eat again until dinner, which will be a baked 1/2 boneless chicken breast and steamed broccoli with a glass of flavor enhanced water. Tomorrow it will be back to 45 calorie toast and a cup of hot tea for me lol.
The chicken/broccoli is very typical of what I eat. We use our outdoor gas Weber year round, and even in the dead of winter at -30 I’ll BBQ. I cannot remember the last time I ate red meat. It’s either chicken, fish (BBQ salmon), salads, or whole grain pasta for us. No processed meat, anything with nitrites, artificial anything, and all breads, buns, tortillas, etc are only whole grains, nothing white.

Each to their own and in retrospect if I offended anyone with my previous comment, I apologize.

I just got back from my longest ride since buying the bike 5 years and 12k miles ago. I'm on a 2012 NC700X manual with soft saddle bags, stock windshield, and a seat concepts seat. I went more than 200 miles from outside of Boston to the Adirondacks, north and east of Saratoga. It took 5 hours and I got an average of 74.5 mpg. I got to see 4 states and drive a lot of curvy mountain roads. I navigated with my Beeline unit, which worked flawlessly and found some great back roads. On the way there I put in a .gpx file from google maps and, when I deviated, it could not recalculate but picked me up as soon as I got back on the route. The way home, I just let it guide me and it found nice roads, and when I deviated from it's directions it instantly recalculated. All in all a great couple of days,There.png

sorry to reply to my own thread but I wanted to add that it took about 4 straight hours in the saddle before my bony butt started to ache. Unfortunately, it's the only bony part of me. After a quick coffee break, I was ready to go with no after-effects. I love the bike more today than ever!

They’re SW-motech. I had a post on them a while back. I’ll see if I have a picture, if not I’ll take one later before I cover it and say goodnight

Some pics from when I added the bags

Per someone here's recommendation I bought a pair of adjustable foot pegs off Amazon. Being old, a bit less bend in the knee could add for long distance riding. I installed them today and so far I'm generally pleased with the results. Pictures attached are with/without the extenders showing the changes in my leg position. For the top view, the leg on the left is the standard peg and the one on the right is the lowered one. From the side view, the right leg was on the new pegs. Not much, but helpful.
These pegs are adjustable via two pivots and it took me a while and a few test rides, to get the positions that worked best. My judgment was based primarily at ease of accessing the rear brake. My final position is shown. It's not where I started or what I expected but it let me roll my foot on to the brake as well as jump directly on it.
My foot lands on these slightly different than the peg. I naturally sat with the peg in the arch of my foot. With these, they're a bit forward, just behind the ball of my foot. I can also raise myself off the pegs/stand easier with these.

So, as is true whenever I add something to the bike... I had to go for a 75 mile ride. just to test them out... and then I stopped for my favorite egg foo young.... so it was a pretty good day, I guess!

Took my maiden voyage on my new to me 16 NC700 X DCT. A nice little loop from home, couple hundred miles. The DCT is interesting. Started off in “D” and wasn’t impressed, bike was way to eager to get into sixth. Didn’t like the way she felt. Changed to Sport 2 after a couple miles. Wow, what a difference. Like a completely different bike, shifts are much smoother, stays in basically the same gear I’d have picked on a manual. I was scrubbing in a new set of tires so couldn’t really corner hard, but the bike tracks like it’s on rails and feels a lot stronger than it really is. I was nicely impressed and very pleased with the bike. Oh, and it got 65.8 mpg’s going it. I suspect a lot of the folks who cast shade on the NC’s (1)either never rode one, or (2) rode one in “D”, found it sluggish and never realized the “other” bike hidden within. I really think “D” should be “rain mode”, with S1 the base “D” position. Great bikes!

Try going 1 tooth down on the front sprocket and ride in S3 and it’s a different bike again.
