Best economical rear tire for mostly on road use?

+1 on conti motion. I'm at about 6,000 on one. seems like I'll get at least 9,000, and it's one of the cheapest options.

    CBR600 Shock

Yeah, this thread picked up where the "NC shock measurements please" thread left off. I hose clamped mine to the frame with some rubber to pad things. I put it near the right passenger peg. Like this, but with rubber strips protecting the frame tube. Stole this pic from the other thread.

    Drive chain maintenance

Yeah, I can attest to the dry threads varying wildly in torque. Bicycle spokes are easy to measure tension in, and the torque can really vary for a given tension. And as far the torque specs for the NC, I think more than half of them are not for dry threads, but with thread locker or oil added.

    Corbin Seat: Yes or No?

Yeah, I think they may have improved it since. Not sure if they ever added springs though. I added my own.

    Corbin Seat: Yes or No?

I got a second hand Corbin set, it has the very non-slip 'asphalt' texture. I have it slope modded, and am very happy. Had to do quite a bit of fiddling to get the pillion seat latch working satisfactorily though.

    balancing beads

I've used other beads, and ride on sealant on self mounted and roughly balanced tires. No undue vibrations up to 90mph. I think this video from Centramatic wheel balancers demonstrates the concept best. Whether beads in a tire work as well, can't say for sure. You can see it takes a certain...

    1st long Ride 74 Mpg.

Yeah, love the fuelly app! I also use the note function for maintenance and whether I checked oil/air. My worst mileage is good enough for me, but I enjoy keeping track for some reason.

    H4 3800 Lumen LED - No Go

Yeah, that one is just a bit bulky. I'm very happy with the speed metal LED bulb. http://nc700-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7699 On sale half the time at cycle gear for $70. There's a link somewhere in that thread to a source for the same bulb with a couple color temp options. One of...

    Me Too, Me Too!

+1 on Conti motions. Holding up better than the z8's after ~4000mi for half the price.

    Low COG drawbacks

Yeah, I'd have to agree that geometry has far more to do with it than weight distribution, and I'd think that low CG would actually make turning easier at high speeds, all else being equal. Centripetal force wants to stand the bike back up in a fast turn. The higher the weight, the further out...

    Hollow Rear Axle?

Even more espensivo, but for more ideas at least, There's the trail tail. Trail Tail Their older KLR650 mount looks interesting, very similar axle and swingarm. Looking again at the motomule hitch for the KLR. It too might work if the swingarm cross section is close enough. If I were you, I'd...

    Front or Rear Off road

Yeah, i've only done real off-road riding on pedal bikes, but as there probably aren't too many people with slick/knobby mullet experience, figured i'd add my two cents anyway. I always run the more aggressive knobby in front on mountain bikes, sometimes with a semi-slick in back. Reason is what...

    Hollow Rear Axle?

Sorry to be such a buzzkill, but I wouldn't trust 3/4"conduit for much of anything:(. Even the stuff the BOB is made out of is much heavier and stronger, probably Cro-mo. It's really just a few weak points on the BOB that aren't up to hitting a bump at highway speeds (attachment points to bike...
