While choosing a new battery for my car recently, I watched this very insightful video by Project Farm:
In short, he determined that the cheap Walmart car batteries appear to be the best value and even outperform more expensive batteries in some areas. With this new knowledge, and learning...
I promise I diligently searched for 20 minutes before coming to ask you guys.
I can't seem to find anywhere online that sells the NC700 clutch cover gasket. Gasket only. Any ideas?
I definitely endorse the off-road life! I love it enough to haul my bike on a trailer behind my Civic. Works great.
If you want to get a bike that you can also ride on the road, I don't think you'd regret getting a lighter one like previously mentioned (WR250 or CRF250L). Wrestling a heavy...
Yep, spot on @davidc83. My method of using the feeler gauge was very poor the first time around. I took the extra time to make sure each clearance was properly adjusted and now it's running perfectly!
That's a wrap, folks! A new cam chain and cam chain tensioner have fixed up this poor NC to...
Alright everyone, I would love some feedback on this.
I received the replacement cam chain and tensioner on eBay (used) and installed them on the bike. Then I zipped everything up enough to start it up. It now starts and runs very normally. No check engine light, no erratic idle. Revs up no...
Yeah I suppose you could say that. I'm just curious how deep they investigated the issue and how they handled the conversation with the owner. They told him that replacing the engine was the right step and quoted him the price for that. From what I can tell, a fresh cam chain and tensioner will...
Yeah that hook on the one side is missing. I fished for awhile with no luck, and it didn't come out when I drained the oil out of the drain plug yesterday (at least in one piece that I could see). There were some metal shavings in the oil I drained. Not much, but that could possibly be the source.
Well, bless your soul @lootzyan. I feared the spring was just chewed up by the engine somehow, but you poked me into going magnet fishing. What a catch! I'm surprised it didn't do more damage.
Yep, it was a tensioner issue.
Looks like that little press-fit pin at the top came loose and seized it up. Damage is evident on the chain with some spots worse than others. The chain damage has me scratching my head because it makes sense that the links in contact with the sprockets at the...
Alright gentleman, I'm locked in on the issue.
I put fresh plugs in and started it up again. No change. I ran it for a solid minute to see if the left plug would be wet again. It wasn't. I repeated this sequence with the same results. Must have been a fluke the first time with the wet plug...
The left spark plug was definitely wet. I remember noticing that. Color was about the same for both.
Not a bad idea to check the timing. I'll put it on the list.
According to the previous owner's story, the bike was running fine for a long time without any issues before it started acting up...
