2021 DCT recalled

My understanding of the stalls was simply that the clutch would cut too early with the revs being still low. If it was a manual clutch, I would simply rev it up more before releasing the clutch (you kinda know where your machine needs it). But with DCT you don't have that choice, it's all in the hands of DCT when to engage the clutch. So, I don't think the software update has anything to do with the manual transmission, it should only impact DCT. I am a newbie in this forum, and I am not sure what "engine smootheness" means. It reminds me on how the engine itself works, and I don't think they are messing with the electronic fuel injection ratios in the software update. They are probably just idling more and engaging the clutch later to make sure there is no stall.
I don’t have the universal definition of engine smoothness. I was simply responding to post #75. Maybe you’re right; the reflash is a correction for DCT clutch engagement protocol.

I would interpret engine smoothness as lack of vibration, or reacting to throttle inputs without being jerky, or accelerating linearly without any "cammy" rush, or idling steadily without any rpm fluctuation, or, well, you get the idea.
Each person's definition of smoothness could mean many different things.
I can't comment on the '21 DCT reflash and how it's "smoother", as I have a '20.

My bike stalled twice the first few months I got it, I thought it was my riding that caused it. When I got the recall notice I thought wow that could have been dangerous if I stalled. I went to three different Honda dealers near Toronto. I finally got it fixed and WOW does my bike feel smoother off the start and while the engine breaking. I'm realy glad I got the recall and had it fixed.

Took mine to the nearest dealer today (not the one I bought it from) for a schedule appointment to get the re-flash done. After an hour they said they couldn't figure out how to do it.

You might have expected too much, thinking a dealer could actually do the job.

I had a similar problem. I brought my bike to three different dealers. The first two couldn’t read my ECU. The third had the 6 pin connect and updated software needed to do the job. I can tell you, the ECU update has been fantastic. It feels like a new bike.

Headed to TN/NC in 3 weeks to ride the Dragon with my son. I hope I can get it done by then.

Got my '21 NC750x reflashed a couple of weeks ago. I think I can feel the difference, I am enjoying the ride a little more, although there are other variables of warmer weather etc. What's important is that I have not noticed it to stall or choke when I start from a stopped position. It just jumps right out. Bike has only ~700 miles on it.

Side note, I am still struggling with the lack of wind protection and lower seat position (despite getting a higher SeatConcepts foam and lowering the pedals). Anyway, this is for another thread.

Yesterday, My DCT stalled 2 times while at a light and light throttle off the line. This is the first I’ve experienced this. I did receive the recall notice, but I haven’t been able to arrange transport to drop my bike. Dropping it off tomorrow! Even if I have to hitch a ride!

Some BMW F800ST owners reported stalling as fuel level dropped, indicating the pump may be overheating.
I never experienced this so it probably happened in extreme ambient heat conditions. The pump probably gets substantially warmer on any vehicle when fuel level gets low.

Throttle response became much crisper on my bike after de-catting. This Rotax engine has a snarly exhaust note.
