Great idea for a thread! Isn’t 2021 the 10th year of production?

On my 2021 DCT, in the upper right hand corner of the gauge there is a little bar.. you can see it in this photo and it is orange in first gear

PH7Epkd.jpg

when the DCT shifts to second gear that light turns (example) blue (I didn't memorize them yet)

shifts to third ii turns yellow

shifts to fourth it turns red

shifts to fifth it turns purple

and when it shifts to 6th it turns green

and in reverse going down

it's silly since there is already a numerical gear indicator to tell you what gear it is in.

I thought about putting a piece of electrical tape over it, but I'd rather turn it off, if anyone can tell me if that's possible and how.

Also if someone can tell me how to set the clock?

There are an insane amount of pages about setting the display and that tiny colored bar in the manual. Wow. And the whole process is so convoluted.

Here’s my attempt at deciphering all of it. Hope this is at least somewhat helpful!

Turning off the colored bar (page 62)
I think you can turn it off by pressing and holding the down arrow button, which should show a “Color Off Mode” setting. From there, I think you press the select button to set “Color Off Mode” to ON (???), and then press and hold the down arrow button again to get back to the regular display.

Setting the clock (pages 44-48)
As for setting the clock, I think you press and hold the down arrow AND the mode buttons to get to the “Time Format” menus. From there, press the mode button 3 times (this gets you past the 12/24 hour clock and date settings). Finally, you should be able to set hours and minutes — press the up/down buttons to set the hours, then press the mode button to move on to minutes and do the same. To go back to the regular display, press and hold the down arrow AND the mode buttons.

More important, who cares if the present gear is even displayed? At any one time, you are in basically one of three gears: The right gear, a gear that’s too high, or a gear that’s too low. If you are in any gear but the right one, you change up or down until it’s right. Assigning a number or color to the gear and displaying it is really unnecessary.

My 2013 manual version does not have a gear indicator, but I know what gear I am in by looking at the tach....put the bike at 3400 rpms, look at the left # of my speed, that is the gear it is in....and if I am not on the superslab, I keep the bike at around 3400rpms most of the time...just a quick glance at the gauge and I know the gear...

The NC was released at Milan in late 2011 as a 2012 model. At the press launch in Milan the project leader make the infamous reference to the Jazz engine.
For the US market:
2012 model was 1st year of production
2013 2nd
2014 3rd
2015 4th
2016 5th
2017 6th
2018 7th
2019 8th
2020 9th
2021 model NC is the 10th year of production.

If any were produced in 2011 for early release somewhere in the world, then the 2021 NCs produced now would be the 11th (calendar) year of production.

Wow, I'll try those revmatch and see if it works. If they do, you are my hero! Today that bar was purple all day, but I was pressing buttons all over the place last night trying to figure stuff out.

Rode 125 miles today. Like yesterday I reached for the non existent the clutch lever once, moved my toe over to hit the non existent shift lever once and tried to blow the horn at a UPS driver that looked like he might pull out in front of me and cancelled the turn signal that wasn't on. I also tried the paddle shifters by accident today and that mode is pretty cool, and pretty much like normal as long as you remember where the paddles are and when to hit them. I guess I hit the manual button when I took off and was wondering why my bike was revving. but wasn't shifting to second, so I hit the upshift paddle and it hit second. Then I rode the next 15 minutes using the paddles until I got to my buddy's house I was riding with today. When I got to his house I hit buttons until the little D came on in the gauge. Now I know to look for that to be in std automatic mode lol. Haven't tried Sport mode yet

As I was riding today I decided if you didn't go into it, with the preconceived notion as to what rpms gear changes SHOULD take place (up and down), and just let it do it's thing, the DCT trans is BRIILIANT.

well the clock one worked woohoo. Thanks Revmatch.

The color thingy didn't. It took me thru a couple dimmer settings and then back over to mileage and odometer stuff. Never did see anything that mentioned color anything. I'll ponder it some more with the manual in my lap.

Yea its on page 62 in my manual and called Multi Color Line information setting.... a little different on the 2021 .... and the directions are confusing and it don't work for me ( I probably don't know what the little arrows mean between some are white, some are black, some are gray, and some have little diagonal lines in them). I'm 71 and not used to interpreting directions like this. I want Color Off Mode disabled so there are no colors flashing

Press and hold the down button
press the mode button
press and hold the mode button
press and hold the up button
press the up button
press the down button
