2021: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?

I have been pretty busy these past few months with work and all so I haven’t spent much time doing anything particular to the NC. Just been working two jobs trying to get out of a hole thanks to my eX. But I have been riding the NC nearly everyday to work and back. Easy 30 min commute, half city and half interstate. Here is a little of what I have been doing to it though.

Finally installed the Mmoto custom rear rack from Kharkiv Ukraine. 23C420B9-4EA5-44B5-9739-4CB335F35F50.jpeg

Also installed the rear top box.

Installed a new pair of Conti-Motions!

Had to make a Costco run, hence the big panniers. There's a lovely local "long way round", about 25 miles - 15 or so of it dirt road, that runs through the nearby National Forest through ponderosa pine

and some decent "twisties"

This road's only about 3 miles or so from the house so I ride it frequently. Even now, after 10+ years of riding it, it's still a pleasure

Hey B-bird. I noticed in one of those pictures that you have a nice little outdoor thermometer for your bike, where did you score that little gem? i like it and have been looking for one for a while now. Do you have a link maybe?
:{)
Unfortunately, that waterproof thermometer was bought 10 years ago on eBay.
I had it first mounted on a Silverwing 600 scooter.
My Goldwing had a factory air temp sensor, so it sat on a basement shelf for 7 years.
AFAIK, that sensor is not sold anymore on eBay.
I put it on my NC, but am going to replace it with this:

I remembered the Alaska Sheepskin Buttpad I bought for my last bike about 12 years ago & managed to find it. Still looks like new & I put it on the Honda. Very comfortable. Just adds maybe 1/2" to the seat height but I lowered my bike so it's no problem. It has a strap that clips on under the seat so it doesn't move around or fall off. Mine's the square shape, not the triangle. Not cheap but glad I got it.

This just arrived today.
I immediately tested it with a DC power supply and my Fluke digital multi-meter before mounting on my NC.

The good:
1) the display is large and bright, and the construction and wiring seem good
2) the thermometer seems to be very accurate

The bad:
1) The instructions, on the English side, are a joke. The translation from the original Chinese (Mandarin?) on one side of the sheet to English on the other side results in absolute gibberish.
I applied what I could decipher to the setting of the time on the device. No go. What the instructions told me to do and the expected outcomes were diametrically opposed. Unacceptable
2) The voltmeter is pathetic. With my power supply set to 13.8V DC, my Fluke read 13.8V but the 3 in 1 LED device read 12.4V. Unacceptable.
When I increased the PS voltage to 14.4V, representing a typical charging voltage from the generator, the device readout was much more accurate, measuring 14.3V.
The lower the voltage, the more inaccurate the device voltmeter becomes. Unacceptable.

My recommendation?
Do not buy this device if you want an accurate voltage display and the ability to display the time.
If you want just a useable temp gauge, there are better and cheaper alternatives out there.

I contacted the seller with my complaints, and we'll see how he responds.
For me to return it to China would result in a higher cost than the purchase price refund (shipping to me was free).
So I threatened him with a horrible feedback comment if I don't get a full refund.
If the eBay listing had the same instructions posted as I received with the device, I would never have bought it in the first place.

Just added. The seller gave me a full refund, no questions asked.

Leaving it home because it's been too damn cold in the mornings!!!
The return commute is beautiful but I'm tired of dressing up for 34 degree mornings.
Harrumph!

Reinstalled my Garmin Zumo 396 after returning the Zumo XT, installed the POS tri-gauge time/air temp/voltmeter with the useless instructions and the wonky voltmeter.
Look at the voltage reading with the ignition on, engine not running. 11.3V Should be over 12V as battery is fully charged on a maintainer.
And installed frame sliders on the engine guards and over the muffler.DSC00251.JPGDSC00246.JPGDSC00247.JPGDSC00248.JPG

I cursed FedEx for not delivering my rear tire even though it was scheduled for Thursday. They are worse than DHL. I don't know how they stay in business.

I'm losing about 10psi in the first hour after inflating it to 42psi. Not safe to ride.

Popped these Puig pegs on this afternoon. Cheapo-covid provider (amazon) drop mounts. Slight mods to the mounts to make it fit. Didn't see a drop mount from Puig so had to do this. Also possible to rotate to your proffered angle. Supposed to get my Ibex bash plate soon. Unusual piece, I'll post when I get it mounted. Also mounting a pair of Shad 35's as soon as I get a couple missing mounting plates. The Shad mounts kinda look like crash-bars for the rear end...

Bigbird
Were the sliders shipped as a pair?
Could you provide the dimension that it protrudes from the bike?
Cheers
Are you referring to the sliders on the engine guards or the slider by the muffler, or both for dimensions?
Did you read the eBay listing for the engine guard sliders?
