Considering a trip where my wife and I are on our bikes, but our adult daughter, our foster son and a couple dogs follow in a rented RV. Just a few days, not an epic journey.

We wear Cardo units in our helmets. Of course we could use the Cardo's to make a phone call to the RV, or the RV could call one of us. But I'm thinking of some way to have a 3 way conversation with all 3 of us.

Has anyone found a SIMPLE way to do this? I suppose I could buy another Cardo headset but that seems like a cumbersome solution since our daughter would not be wearing a helmet while driving the RV

Put the same unit in the RV. I have an earpiece and mike for my Bluetooth because the helmet speakers aren't loud enough on my unit. They could get an earpiece for the unit in the RV.

I think I may need to take one of our helmets apart and look at how the speakers and microphone attach to the Cardo units. Not sure but I thought the microphone plugged in with a mini-jack and think the speakers are actually hardwired to the unit, which means the earbud idea might not work?

EDIT

Microphone is plugged in with some sort of proprietary jack
A micro jack is used for the speakers.

So it looks like I need to use the proprietary microphone if I use a Cardo Packtalk system.

It seems like this would work out best if I rigged up a headset (like a video game headset) using the factory speakers & microphone.

The earbud and mic would be for the car and a third bluetooth transmitter/receiver. They can actually be used anywhere. You just need a compatible reciever/sender.

I think mine for my vnetphone cost $8.00 A quick search found one like mine here:

I have not looked into this in detail, but my nephew and I were having a conversation along similar lines, and he recommended Discord.
I guess it is huge with gamers, but certainly not exclusively for them. My understanding is that you can download the app for free onto an iPhone or android device, and that you can use popular BT communications like Sena or Cardo to communicate with said devices.
Perhaps somebody more savvy could chime in, although my nephew made it sound like it would be released to research, but you can create your own server once you have joined the free discord community, and then invite individuals to join that same server. You can men all communicate for free using that server. Is what a lot of gamers used to communicate with one another when there all over the country or even the world Perhaps somebody more savvy could chime in, although my nephew made it sound like it would be really easy to research, but you can create your own server once you have joined the free Discord community, and then invite individuals to join that same server. You can then all communicate for free using that server. It's what a lot of gamers use to communicate with one another when they're all over the country or even the world.

I don’t see this working with a Cardo unit because Cardo needs 1 stereo plug for speakers plus a separate proprietary plug for the microphone.

The last I read about it, Discord, like all Social Media in America, grants itself a license in perpetuity to anything and everything you upload onto one of their servers. Whether or not this matters to you is a personal matter.

I wonder if a call to Cardo Customer Service could provide some help? I would think this question/problem has come up before from touring/rental companies and group rides. They may have a solution for you(?) Just a thought..

Yeah, check with the manufacturer. They might know of compatible devices. The other thing you can do is get modern FRS/GMRS walkie talkies. I have a throat mic (avoids wind noise) and ear piece that plugs into my Midland. I got it because the leader of one of the group rides uses FRS/GMRS.

Not really sure that is practical because we'd all have to get those, at that point it would probably cost as much as buying another Cardo unit.
