Trailer Hitch for Cyclops 2000

No responses to my post. So I took the specs from the manufacturer, found four good mount points and took some measurements. I made up a CAD drawing and took that along with the specs and my bike and trailer down to a welding and fabrication shop near my home. Three days later I had a powder-coated hitch made from 7/8" steel tubing. I can share my drawings if anyone gets one of these trailers and needs a hitch. Resized_20200512_073228.jpg

That is so cool!! I too have been kickin around the idea of making a hitch for mine as this year i have a willing passenger that is eager to be out on the road riding with me! So i have been thinking of a set up like that for carrying the camping necessities for two! :{)

We have the Lone Rider Moto-Tent which is a great tent for biking but doesn't fit in any of my Trekker Outback boxes. Even if it did it would take up a lot of room. It stows nicely down the bottom center of the trailer keeping centre-of-gravity low. Room for sleeping bags and cooking gear too. I think we'll be using it quite a bit once we're able to travel again.

Trailer looks sweet. If I was planning to do a week or more of all camping on good roads I'd be all over it, even solo.

Speaking of, how does it perform? What about ruts and bumps?

It's sprung at the hitch (hitch is frame mounted) and on the trailer wheel itself so it seems to handle bumps quite nicely. I purposely went over some rougher road. If you want off-road capability I recommend looking at the Trail-Tail which is made in BC. They have some impressive videos of trail riding with their version. Easy peasy if you have a V-Strom because they use a pin through the hollow axle. To use their hitch you'd need to source a hollow axle for your NCX.

If I were to pull a trailer, it would be more maintained dirt road than off-road. I would just want something that could stand up to some light to moderate washboard at under 20 mph.

Thanks for the info, though. You obviously really did your research on this ;)
