Clutch Engagement - Friction Zone adjusting where your clutch engages

Just wanted to share this tip I found on Youtube that simplified the task of adjusting my clutch to change where the clutch engages. If you have taken the MSF course this is called the "Friction Zone". Mine was engaging a little further out than I liked so I just ran out and adjusted it. Of course while I was fiddling with that I noticed some other things to fiddle with... Anyway I managed to adjust the clutch and I think that it is going to be much nicer riding with the friction zone changed to engage much sooner.

I realize that a lot of people on this forum have the DCT so this doesn't apply to a lot of people here, but if you do have a clutch and would like to change where it engages this video worked pretty well.

I didn't use the jack stand or even the center stand on the bike. I simply made the adjustment on the engine side of the cable and hopped on the bike and engaged the clutch while sitting in my driveway. Jumped off and adjusted it some more. After just a couple of adjustments I had it where I wanted it.

I watched the same video last week, very helpful for tweaking the friction zone.
 
I have gone through my clutch cable twice. In that, my original cable came apart at the lever about a year ago. I think it might have been instigated by the eBay aftermarket levers I installed. A "friend" sent me to a motorcycle graveyard who offered to repair the cable for like $50. Little did I know that NEW ones are $15.....:mad: Anyway last time I rode it home it was behaving much as it did the first time the cable crapped out. It did not want to find neutral. So I ordered a new one online to be e-mailed the next day that they, clutch cables, are on BACKORDER indefinitely. Anyone else having this issue? Checked Ron Ayers, they too couldn't find one......
 
The oem ncx clutch cable is $22 (+shipping/tax) at chaparral-racing.com, dunno if it's in stock (doesn't say on the listing or in the shopping cart), might should call before ordering.

If you are hurting for an OEM NC700X clutch cable, I have a couple new ones and a couple used ones, since I've switched to using the longer CTX cables. I could surely part with one.
