I am soon to press the button on a NC750x DCT (as soon as the plaster comes off my leg! - don't ask)

With the ocean of spare time I have, I'm researching the bolt-on mods that I want.

It would seem that all of the engine bars that I've seen seem to be quiet close in to the bike. Does anyone know if there are any available that look more like conventional "crash bars", i.e stick out east and west a little more?

Also, can engine bars be fitted as well as the accessory or light bar without any cutting and shutting?

I like these a lot too, partly because they are set up well for front panniers and extra lights, protect upper plastic and radiator sides too, and chances of getting a leg free are better {there's my off-road mindset;}. DIMOTIV Upper Engine Guard

Congrats on the bike, not so much the plaster - hopefully it wasn't too bad!!

Too answer your last question, yes: see this post with pic

That bar looks very interesting. When I look at the pics on the web site it looks like only 2 contact points that really keep the bar off of the bike in a tip over however. That would worry me a bit. I like the way that looks and the concept.

True, but it also looks like it has good torsional strength due to the nose design. Between it and a decent skid plate I'd be confident.

Lots of good brands for engine guards in the market place. I stick with Givi for everything. That way I know the next Givi accessory will fit perfect with the previous accessory. No problems ever this way.

I put these on my daughter's bikes to protect the bike and their legs. Only problem is that when you check the valves you need to remove one U-bolt to get the inspection cover off. The u-bolt is stainless so you must put a lubricant on it. grease otherwise it will fall and it will gall when you try take it off. I know from experience.

Does your leg go outside the upper bar on that design?

I saw Dimotiv has engine guards for the DCT (DIMOTIV Moto Gene -- Engine Protective Cover) which is something ive looked for, but jeez they are proud of them ($300).

According to the spec sheet, they're made from Aluminium Alloy. I think engine bars would be better made from Steel, preferably unseamed steel tube
