Honda OEM Rack + TOP BOX & AfterMark Racks Question

Hi All,

I have an issue I am not sure I can resolve without spending the $$$ on the genuine Honda rack and box. The problem is this: my wife states that she only likes the Honda genuine top box setup because it comes FLUSH with the end of the NC750X rear seat. In other words the aftermarkets I have looked at all come back too much and so she would need to lean back for the 'backrest' to touch her back and feel comfortable.

My question is: does anyone know of any aftermarket racks that would basically be flush with the end of the seat? So far Givi 1111FZ and the ALURACK seem to come back a good few inches... Actually not totally sure on the Alurack but the GIVI one I saw on YouTube videos that it does. Does anyone have an ALURACK setup I could look at with a pic?

Does anyone know what I mean? I've seen this posted somewhere else in another thread so others seem to be aware that the aftermarkets racks extend further back.

I'm hoping to find an aftermarket solution that is cheaper then going the Honda Genuine way as it's far more expensive. Thank you very much for any advice/input.

I'm not sure if you can judge it by the racks only, because the top case chosen is also going to determine how close the box is to the passenger. I have an Alu-Rack with its Givi monolock adapter and a large Kappa case, and if a pad was installed on the case I think it would be right flush with the rear of the seat. I'll be mounting the case up this weekend in prep for a trip, so I could snap a pick.

I just realized this too as I was researching further, that the top box chosen would play a role in how close it would come FLUSH with the end of the rear seat. If you remember to put a pic up that would be appreciated - thank you.

I have the genuine Honda topbox and rack, it looks the part and my wife also finds it comfortable, thought agreed the 300 quid was expensive!

Duh. Sorry, I just realized my photo would be of no help because I don't have a passenger seat on either of my NC bikes. I have a cargo rack there instead. Hopefully another member can help you out with a photo.

Twisted Throttle has fairly decent pictures of the Alu-Rack on the NC, and I can post more if needed. But as Greg mentioned, I don't think that will answer your question or be of any real use. The different top boxes and mounting options will determine the proximity to the back of the bike. You can also look into either adding a padded back rest to the box if it doesn't have one, or increasing the padding a couple of inches (covered memory foam might work). Not as clean a look, but it might get you where you want to be.

I understand, I ordered the ALURACK (which I don't think I can go wrong with) and a GIVI E370 39L with backrest. I believe that size is perfect and might be big enough to come closer to the seat and if it really doesn't work out I'll return the box and go to 45L.

I imagine I shouldn't have any issues on the 2017 NC750X, should be the same as the prior years...
