    That’s good info on the Yokohama tire markings. However, my point all along is that the valve stem is quite often NOT the heaviest point of the wheel assembly. If you blindly make that assumption, then the dots on the tire are a waste of time.

    I don't recall the heavy spot on any of my MC rims being at the valve stem actually; sometimes close, but never at. I put the rim on my balancing rig and mark the heavy spot with a silver Sharpie pen on the inside; then have a reference point for the future.
