Why are we getting excited about Harley doing what they should have done years ago, but instead were too stupidly focused on a narrow market segment?

Sort of a deja vu moment for HD. In the 70s an Italian company made the Sprint 350 for Harley Davidson. Nice little bike, I used to want one.

I never cared about the Italian Harleys back then, they were expensive and not as high-tech as the Japanese bikes. Down on power but they might have handled pretty well, better than the Asian imports?
People remember the Sprint 250 (later bored to 350) but there were smaller bikes too.
I have a friend that started collecting them 20+ years ago and has a garage full.
