Theese were installed at 38200 miles, bike currently has 48641 miles a total of 10441 miles on the tires. Keeping them at 36psi all around for a highway commute of 200 miles round trip and about 100 miles of dirt riding on them at 25psi. Front looks like they can last another 5+ thousand miles maybe, rears are done....

Front 130/80/17

Rear 150/70/17

I’m currently at 16,000 miles on my front and I’m pretty sure they’ll make it 20,000. My rear lasted me about 10,000 but I had to change it before a major trip so I think I could have squeezed 12,500 miles.

I don’t think there are better value tires than these shinkos.

What are those 'whiskery' things sticking out the side of those tires??? Aren't you supposed to wear those off?? ;-) just kidding.........

I have a set of 705s coming in the mail for this summer. Figured I’d give them a try. Hoping to explore more gravel around here.

What size fits the rear? Or am I better off getting a different tire for the rear?

I just ordered my first set of them and went with 150/70. Others have used the 170 size. I think most use the 150 because it is a little rounder and should lean a little easier. I’ll find out after I get them installed.

The 150/70 is also cheaper than the other close size (I forgot what that was).

I, too, like the Shinko 705s. The only odd behavior is that they get very squirmy on tar snakes. Does anyone else notice that? I think it may be due to the diagonal tread block design.

any clearance problems with the 130/80 front? I thought that was listed as a tube tire too.

Seeing as I actually need a set of tires, weather's warning and they're half the price of PR 5's I was looking at, I just bought a set of Shinko 705's
120/70 and 150/70 my first time trying these tires

In short, I believe you need to raise the fender a bit for clearance.
Do a search on this forum. There is a lot of info about that tire size and fender mod.

I think the 170 cost $30-40 bucks more

I was looking at the Michelin 5's I've had multiple sets of the 4's (become hard to impossible to find now) and was very happy with them but given the price difference and the good reviews both online and here for the 705's I thought I'd give them a try. I'm already glad I did and I haven't even gotten my tires yet, I spent the money I "saved" on the tools to change the tires myself instead of continuing to pay someone else to mount them.
I'll report back on that later.

P.s. the price you posted for the Michelins is great except for the $90 shipping cost
brings it above average cost online

Is that a rhetorical question or do you really want to know? (I find americanmototire.com hard to beat).

Have fun at the Utah meet!

No Sir, i really did want to know. I did check them out and it seems i saved $27.00, thanks though. I'll be checking back in with them for my next set, often times different companies will run specials or rebates, and it never hurts to check. :{)

Why the 140? For the rear?

140 is quite different than 160.

I don’t mean to nitpit at your purchase details. But again, only since you asked: My comparison of the current prices shown in your eBay links vs current AMT prices shows AMT to be about $3 cheaper per tire than your eBay links on all three of the Shinkos. The americanmototire prices for the three Shinko 705 sizes, respectively, are $73.80, $61.61, and $83.37, with free shipping.

Also, I was just curious about the 140 size tire. I see that the 140/80 tire in your link is a tube type tire. Are you going to mount that on an NC700 rim with a tube, or are you intending it for a different motorcycle that uses tube type tires?
