Interesting to note that your location is Tucson and you may already be replacing a battery in a 2016 motorcycle. We have seen a correlation with hot/cold environments and short/ long battery life. I live in a colder climate and my original 2012 battery is still going strong.

I think the original battery was left flat on the showroom floor. It was dead when the salesman tried to start it for me. They charged it and gave me a wrong sized battery for the trip home from Vegas to Tucson. I bought this one and am trying to sell the dealer battery on Craigslist.

I'm a novice but I would try a breaker bar on the screws. Mine loosened easily but sounds like yours have thread locker. Removing the inner weights was the real pain. I didn't want to peel grips back and/or remove throttle tube (?) so I didn't press through holes near bar ends like the instructions suggested. Instead, I used the method in this helpful video:
    YouTube
Start around 2:40. He also has a separate video about just the weight removal. Try not to crack the end of your throttle tube.
Remove those little clips first. Note, getting inner weight to twist while pulling didn't help but brute force while rocking up and down did. Best of luck.
I got the end weight screws loose. I used a ratchet with a Philips bit to break it loose.

Yes, they had some red thread locker on them. A heavy coat. Glad I got them broke free.

Yup, I think that'd be my next purchase too. Something that beats the wet fart of a horn that Honda supply the bike with...

I switched to a FIAMM Freeway Blaster Low Note horn, much better than stock and and aside from a small extension to the power lead so I could position the horn the way I wanted it's plug and play.
If you want to also add the high note horn you need a relay as the two are too much of a load for the stock wire.

A short jaunt to pick up two states

A couple of long tours from Baltimore on my 2014 NC-700X accumulated quite a few states for my signature map, but nearby states DE and NJ were still blank, so when the weather looked good yesterday I decided to pick them up.

We left shortly after 9 AM. Having chosen to avoid I-95, we headed for Jarrettsville, then east to Routes 1 and 273. The latter took us all the way to New Castle DE. There were plenty of traffic lights in DE, and winding through the University at Newark called for sharp attention to the "Rt 273" lane signs, but Newark (and DE for the map!) was only about 1:15 from home. The only other route changes were from 273 to 9 North at New Castle, then 295 over the big bridge into NJ. But 273 seemed to kind of morph into 9, and I found myself on it hardly realizing what had happened. The right turn exiting to the bridge came pretty quickly.

Hmmm... bridge lanes for Rt 40, or stay on 295? I hadn't set up my cell-phone GPS and couldn't remember which I wanted, but suddenly saw a right exit to Route 49 south. Exactly what I wanted! There were no plans to cruise around in NJ, just to catch it for the map. Almost immediately there was an exit to restaurants and hotels, and by 11:30 AM I was sipping coffee at the Pennsville NJ Applebee's.

After a nice lunch we headed out about 12:30, paying the $4 toll for westbound travelers on the bridge. After one refueling stop, and a little confusion where 273 ends and merges into 1, we were back home shortly before 3 PM. Round-trip 169 mi... and still in time for my nap!

Thanks, NC... sure do like that bike. Now... how the devil do I add DE and NJ to the map? I had some notes about that somewhere! Ah, got it, I think... with the small size and these small states, the change is hard to see. Well, nice trip, anyway!

Well today was the day. After an hour of shoveling and chiseling the 4"-5" of ice that was under the 1'-2' feet of remaining snow where i had my NC parked i was able to take the bike out for it's first ride this year!! Went for a nice 2hr ride after work today and only saw 5 other bikes out, all big V-Twins of course. :{)

Road the bike to work today for the first time in 3 weeks I think. Was warm enough to not wear my neck gator on the way home....spring is in the air...

I was finally able to ride mine into work yesterday. I got to work and noticed that there was oil down the side of the cylinder and on my leg. The valve cover that was recently screwed up by the incompetent shop is leaking. So today, a Saturday that starts out in the high 50s and should be in the 70s when I go home, I am driving my pickup. Monday I am going down there again and insist that a different mechanic fix their error. I thought about cutting my losses and fixing it myself but I am so upset at that shop that I think it may be time to let my wife yell at them.
