Officially commuted to work and back for the first time this year! About 25 miles roundtrip, 28 degrees F out when I left I had all my heated gear on.

The afternoon hit about 44 for the high and sunny all day so I took the opportunity to ride on the freeway.

The gas is kinda crappy even though I put stabilizer in it last fall. I put some Seafoam in the gas and a few shots in the oil to clean things a bit.

After my freeway ride I took it to my favorite parking lot close by and practiced some MSF drills for a bit of a refresher. I did some turns from a stop, cone weave, figure 8s, swerve & stop and hard braking to help bed in the new brake pads and scrub in the new tires.

I'm still snowmobiling to work, but the lake is getting slushy and the streets in town are starting to clear. Won't be long before I switch to the NC.

    OK, by.
Seriously, this niggling is what keeps me on used cycles. Just give me the number, dammit!

Never forget that as it's you that has the money, YOU are the one in charge of the negotiations.

You: "What's the 'out of the door' price please?

Salesperson: "That's not how we do things here"

You: About Face - Forward March

Salesman: "Now.... let's not be hasty here..."

Dropped my NC off at the shop yesterday for the full 24000 mile service. They said they would have it for about 10 days (lowest number of the 4 shops I called) and already had the parts (filters and such) from 3 other NC jobs they had on the books. Didnt know there were that many in the area! I know of 2. It will be nice to have everything gone over as I do have some big trips coming up and she was due for a once over. It was REALLY weird stepping out into the garage today and not seeing the motorcycle... Had a panic moment for a sec until I remembered.

On another note, I got to try out my new gloves, Klim Badlands Aero Pro, and they are nice, comfortable and excellent grip. I expect a few weeks to get them broken in, but these things are what I have come to expect from Klim. I have had them on my watch list since December, but my size/color combo has been sold out. Cycle Gear had them in stock so I bought immediately. And, in checking, the 2X Grey are again out of stock.

I was also looking at the Induction (Klim Induction Gloves - Cycle Gear) as well, but returned them after putting on the Badlands. Yes, bought both to compare, and have already received the refund. Gotta give Cycle Gear credit on stuff like that. I have never had an issue with returns or swaps.

Thermometer was showing 34 yesterday morning so I drove the WK to work deciding it was still too cold for the bike, but it warmed up nicely to near 60 which made me wish I had the bike for the ride home.

Thermometer was showing 40 this morning and we're expecting another nice afternoon so I rode the bike in to work. I dug my neck gaiter out of my PNW hiking gear and that made a lot of difference. Bike and gear don't have heat, but for my 20 minute no-freeway commute I was plenty warm enough.

    Alternate Side Parking

Haven't got out much recently, though I drove the bike over to Jersey City earlier this week to check out Kayak Polo. A snow flurry started but didn't stick.

Here's the bike parked in its natural city habitat this morning, this time with my dog. Incidentally, there are something like two dozen motorcycles that park on this block and the next one. I may do a post just about that.

That's pretty much what happens. Perhaps I'm forgetting something here.....
Am I supposed to turn around again?
