I set off at 7:20 this morning with 455 miles on the odometer, it's first service was booked for 11am and I needed to have between 500-600 miles on it by then, I managed to get to 561 miles for the service, 90% twisty stuff and a couple of smoke breaks.

The labour on the service was free as part of the sales deal, I had to pay for oil, oil filter and clutch filter, £47 (77 bucks) :) I'm very happy with that.

Up to 640 miles now.

And averaging 71.7 (UK) mpg. :D

I expect that MPG to drop a bit as I'm still not riding it to its full potential too often.

Oh yeah, although it's got 8k service intervals,as we all know, the dealer wants it back at 4k miles to check the valve clearances. I've not read about this anywhere about the 700 or the 750.
Does anyone else know anything about this 4k valve clearance check?

The indicated mileage display on Honda motorcycles has historically been "by Guess and by Golly". For accurate mileage check the accuracy of the odometer and manually calculate mpg by D/Gallons used.

Check the owners manual for when the valves first require checking. The 700 is at 8000 miles, internet rumour has the 750 at 16,000. Check the manual and let us know?

Ah, I've never had such gizmos on a bike and assumed that they would actually work!

I'll work out the mpg the old fashioned way then next time.

I'll check the manual as you say, but it's with the bike and I won't see it till next weekend.
